mojo Monday 144

Hey folks! Well, apparently I forgot to post last week's mojo card sample I made- ugh. Back on track for you this week though. We had a great sketch to work with this week which works well with many types of images. Below are the sketch and my sample:

I tried to do something a bit different this week. I tend to use clean lines on my cards so I thought I would try something out of my comfort zone- distressing. I struggle a bit with it and this time is no exception as maybe I went overboard. I stamped my gorgeous June rose from Sweet N Sassy stamps onto Neenah white and colored it with copics. I used distress inks in antique linen, vintage photo and walnut stain for my distressing. I roughed up the edges with scissors and crumpled the paper as well. I also used a deco silver glitter pen on the distressed edges which is something that Kim Piggott does and I thought looked cool. I think maybe what I will do next time is either do a cracked glass technique or stamp over the colored image with a linen bg stamp. All of the layers were roughed with scissors, then distressed with walnut stain before blinging them up with the glitter pen.

Mojo Monday 142- contest week!

Hi there! It is the mojo Monday contest week. The first Monday each month Julee gives away up to 7 Verve sets to the entries judged to be "mojo-est". Below is the sketch for the week and my sample.

I am pretty pleased how this card came out. The butterfly and sentiment are from the newly released Everyday Miracles set from Sweet N Sassy stamps. Isn't it gorgeous! It is available in BOTH digi and clear stamps- pretty neat? I have used the stamp and digi for my card. I colored the butterfly with copics, added stickles for some sparkle and cut it out and raised slightly with foam tape. The paper I used has some great sparkle in it as well and is called blanc sparkle from Paper Temptress. This cardstock is awesome for copics and for digital images. It is available in both text weight which is great for layers and in cardstock 92# which works well for coloring and for the bases. It is one of my favorites and is a must-have in my opionion especially since it is on sale for 25% off in June. There are 6 colors to choose from and my black layers are noir sparkle from the same line. The beautiful roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts in the UK and come in so many colors and sizes. The ones that I used are 10, 15, and 25mm white that I sponged the tips with sky ink and added stickles to. The edges of the patterned paper, image, and sentiment were sponged/distressed with ink before sewed on. I added a tiny black rhinestone between each of the scallops and pearls in the corners. There is a lot going on with this card but I do like it and hope you do too. Now, the flowers would make it difficult to mail so this will be a hand delivered card.

Sweet N Sassy stamps June blog hop

Well, the time has finally arrived. Clear stamps are officially back at Sweet N Sassy stamps and I am very pleased about it! To celebrate our first new stamp release we are having a blog hop to showcase all of the 6 new sets and a release party tonight at 8PM EST.

Now in the tradition of blog hops and release parties, you know that there are going to be some great prizes being given away! Two of our DT members are giving away some blog candy as part of our blog hop so you are going to want to be sure to stop by each of the blogs to see who has the candy.

I am featuring the "Woof You" set today. The puppy image is soooo cute, I just love it! This set is available in BOTH clear stamp or as a digital set that is called Puppy Love. So, you can chose whichever way you prefer- pretty cool right? Take a look:

I stamped my puppy image onto Blanc Sparkle cardstock from Paper Temptress (it's on sale too 25% off for the month of June) and colored it with my copics (all warm greys). I created my own patterned paper by stamping the little bone image repeatedly onto my paper. All the edges were sewn with my sew mini, and then it was fnished off with some brads and buttons. The scarf was paper pieced with a scrap of dp and I added some shading on it with my marker for depth. The layout for the card is the sweet stop sketch this week and there is still penty of time to play along.I was happy how it came out.

here is a closer look

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Woof You
paper- Paper Temptress blanc and noir sparkle, kraft; PTI dp
accessories- brads, buttons, twine, copics, sewing machine

I wanted to show you a card that I made a little while back using the puppy digi image (which is the same as the stamp version). You can see how different but how equally adorable he looks just by coloring him with different colors.

Here is the list of the blogs you will want to visit for our blog hop. Now, in order to win the prizes you must comment on all of the blogs in the hop as well as the sweet n sassy blog. The winners will be announced tonight June 1st at the release party,

Some Exciting News

Hi there everyone! It has been awhile since my last post as my family and I were on vacation. Upon returning earlier this week I was welcomed back home with a cold that the rest of my family had and decided to share with me. So, between trying to unpack, do laundry, grocery shop and get the house back in order I have not felt up to stamping and creating with the cold added to the everyday mix. I will have one to show this weekend hopefully though. It seems that the cold may be breaking so perhaps I will be able to wander down to my craft area.

However, I wanted to share some really cool news with you that I had not been able to until now since I had little internet service while away. Sweet N Sassy stamps is bringing back clear stamps!!! How cool is that? Now the digis are staying but we are reintroducing the stamps into our line. I am thrilled as I like using digis but I LOVE using my stamps especially for sentiments. Our official release is this coming Tuesday June 1st and there are 5 amazing sets to be released- woohoo! Now of course there are going to be some prizes up for grabs for you so be sure to stay tuned. Now even though I don't have a card to show you today, there are some great sneak peeks going on over at the Sweet N Sassy blog from the DT. I did post this morning a couple of cards you might have previously seen on my blog over there.

Also, I am the SNR challenge host this week of the SNSS digi challenge. Every week there is a new challenge posted in our SNR and PCP groups where we give away free digis. The challenge for this week goes until Wed June 2nd so there is plenty of time left to play along. The challenge is called Patterns O'Plenty so it is a pretty easy one. Now, all participants who play along will earn a free digi so I hope you can join in on the fun. You can find all the challenge info HERE.

A little birdie told me

Hi there blog friends! It's mojo sketch time- are you ready? Below is my sample and the sketch:

I must admit that I really struggled with this sketch and the card. I colored this image while I was at Korin's last month and was pretty happy with how the image came out. However, I colored it to coordinate with some patterned paper that I had, problem is that I could not figure out which when I was trying to put the card together- frustrating. Korin even asked me if I was gonna remember which paper I used and I said oh yes for sure lol. I feel like it needs something although I just don't know what. I tried various ribbons in different spots, lace, and some more pearls but nothing seemed to work oh well. The image called One of a Kind from Sweet N Sassy stamps is colored with copics and the clouds are sponged in using my scalloped acetate oval as a stencil.

Supplies:
stamps- One of a Kind digi, retired sentiment both from Sweet N Sassy stamps
Paper- SU choc chip, My MInds eye dp, Neenah white and Tangy Orange from Paper Temptress
accessories- brown pearls, copics

Be sure to visit the mojo Monday blog for more details on the sketch and for some more inspiration from the mojo makers.

Challenges that I am entering this card in:
Stamp Something- birthday
Simon Says- birthday
Dare U2 digi challenge- anything goes

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day!

Hugs and blessings~ Janette
