Sketch Challenge 180 and some awesome news!

Hi everyone. I am so excited that I have been given permission to tell you all some wonderful news for me. I have been asked to join the Hanna Stamps Design Team!!!! If you have been following my blog at all you know that I absolutely love Hanna Stamps and they are some of my favorite stamps. I am so happy to be part of an awesome team of designers. My first projects as a DT member can be seen in the hanna stamps forum on SCS starting June 30th. The release party will be taking place on July 3rd so be sure to join us. However, you don't have to wait that long for some fun because you won't want to miss the PJ party taking place on June 20th where there are some amazing surprises planned. Trust me on this one! I just received my first package with new release stamps and I look forward to being able to play with them.

So, for today's project I followed the sketch challenge on SCS. You can find it here and if you play along be sure to comment on the post so I can check out your creation. I received this image from the pif forum. I colored my image with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I matted it and used my ticket corner punch on it. I matted all my layers with black and placed them on my card according to the sketch for this week. I added black double stitched ribbon at the top and some primas on the diamond layer. I also stamped my sentiment in the lower corner and added black brads to the corners.

Supplies:
stamps- whipper snapper girl turtle with flower, hero arts sentiment
CS/paper- SU so saffron, black, looks like spring dp
accessories/tools- prismacolor pencils and gamsol, dbl stitch ribbon from Joann's, black brads, prima flowers, SU artichoke brads, SU ticker corner punch

Hope you have a nice evening and be sure to stop back tomorrow because I have quite a few projects to share with you that I could not post until I submitted them.

Color Challenge Tuesday

Tuesday means color challenge day at Splitcoast. Today's colors are so saffron, real red, and regal rose- again not ones I would put together myself but I like it and will use it again. For my layout I used Julee's mojo Monday 41 sketch. I always love her sketches and I also love when I can combine 2 challenges into one card. I love doing the challenges but time sometimes prevents it so combining allows you to kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. The hardest thing for me with color challenges is trying to figure out what image to use. This is a first for me too- cutting out and layering of my images. Also, note I did not use any dp on this card LOL. Take a look.

I stamped my flowers and leaves with pallette noir on SU white. I colored them with a combo of my prismamarkers and copics. It was tough though as I will not use SU paper with them again- they just don't seem to blend as easy on it as others I have used. I cut them all out and used pop dots to layer them the way I wanted. In the middle of the large flowers I used a circle punch to get the saffron CS in the center and tied a small piece of gingham ribbon and used a glue dot to attach it. I wanted to use a button but I did not have 2 small ones and the larger ones I had looked funny. I used red stickles in the center of the small flowers. I sponged around the sentiment for an added touch. I used my slit punch to make the scallops on my rose strip. This card took me a looong time today. I kept pulling it apart and reworking it. Hope it was worth it LOL.

Supplies:
stamps- bud basics, Words of wisdom
ink- pallette noir
CS- real red, so saffron, regal rose, black, white
accessories/tools- prismamarkers (dk. green, crimson red, deco yellow, yellow ochre, magenta, poppy red), copics (G21, RV13), striped grosgrain, black brads, red stickles, red gingham ribbon, slit punch, 1/2" circle punch, pop dots

I am working on some special projects that I look forward to posting soon. Until next time...

Taylored Expressions cupcake challenge 19

Good Monday morning to you all! It is a beautiful sunny HOT day here today. Already at 85 before 10AM this morning. I was finally able to take a picture of the card I made for Taylor's cupcake challenge this morning because by the time I was able to do it yesterday it was too dark. You can find the sketch for this card HERE.

What I really liked about this sketch is that the back giga circle is covered over so you only see part of it. The cupcake is up on pop dots and has stickles for the sprinkles and a rhinestone at the top. The white strip is accented with score lines around the polka dot ribbon. I used a white gel pen for the dots on the black CS and a micron black pen for the dots on the pink circle.

Supplies:
stamps- Inkadinkado cupcakes
ink- pallette noir
CS/paper- pretty in pink, white, black, SU prints pack
accessories/tools- stardust stickles, giga scallop circle, CM circle cutter, signo white gel pen, polka dot grosgrain, rhinestone, black micron pen, prismacolor pencils and gamsol

Thanks for stopping by today

Wedding mojo

I hope that you having a nice weekend so far. The weather here has been quite warm and humid so outdoor activity is not top on the list so what better way to beat the heat than to stamp in the central air conditioned house LOL. So this is what I have created for you today and if I say so myself this is among the best cards I have ever made IMO. What'd think?

I used my new stamp set that I just got from artful inkables. I started by stamped by main image in versamark on white and embossed it with black ep. I punched it out with my mega circle punch and sponged with grey around the edges. I matted it on a giga scalloped circle in black. I then took the bouquet image from the set and stamped with versamark on black and embossed with silver jewels ep. Tip- be sure to use your embossing buddy so you don't get splotches. This was punched and matted on brushed silver. The I used the sketch from Julee's mojo Monday challenge for the layout. I stamped the bouquet image a few times in black on the silver and cut the rectangles. I ran my white CS through my cuttlebug and cut those rectangles. I adhered my scalloped images onto the rectangles that were shaped into the square and placed those on my black layer. I stamped my sentiment in the lower corner in white. I then cut a strip of silver and used my Fiskars border punch on it and attached that. I tied a ribbon around just to finish it off and because I think it looks elegant. This ribbon is so yummy I just love it! Everything was attached to my white base and I added 2 flowers with rhinestone centers to it which were on pop dots for the finishing touch. It would be nice to win the mojo contest this week with this card because I don't own any verve sets but I would sure like to.

Supplies:
Stamps- artful inkables wedding silhouettes, SU happiness always
ink- versamark, versafine black, white craft
CS- SU black, PTI white, SU brushed silver
accessories/tools- double sided satin ribbon (Michaels), silver jewels ep, black ep, bridal flowers (Michaels), clear rhinestones, Fiskars flowers border punch, SU scallop punch, Marvy circle punches, cb birds and swirls folder

Heading off to bed now- good night!

Double challenge card

Well, this is the second time I am writing this post as somehow when I went to publish it- it just went poof and dissappeared. Bummer! Anyway, I used Beate's weekend sketch and the weekly challenge in the hanna stamps forum. The hanna challenge was to use circles on your card. My circle requirement was satified in my dps, the brads, the ribbon and the paper piercing. Take a peek.

I started out with my sunshine dp which was cut to have a 1/8" border around it. I pierced 2 rows- one on the top and one on the bottom. I added my blue dp strip which has a small matte of orange that was pierced. I tied a ribbon around it and attached to my card base. I colored my Riley image with copics and prismamarkers, double matted it and added brads to the corners. This was then attached to the card. I finished up by stamping my sentiment in the lower left corner and added some stickles to the brads.

Supplies:
stamps- Surfer Riley, things Hanna would say
ink- pallette noir
CS/dp- blue Imaginisce dp from hanna stamps, bazzill bling, SU orange, sunshine dp from my LSS
accessories/tools- ribbon, brads, diamond stickles, paper piercer, copic markers and prismacolor markers

This was the first time I ever made a Riley card- can you believe it LOL? He looks so cute with his wet suit on. Thanks so much for visiting.

Blog Candy Winners!!

Happy Friday. I had my daughters draw for the blog candy winners this morning as promised. I drew for a grand prize winner and a runner up since both of my girls wanted to pick from the bowl LOL. So the runner up will receive a small something from me. I hope to post a picture of what the winners will receive sometime this weekend but I will not promise as I don't like breaking promises if I can't. So drumroll please....the winners are:

Maria Matter- grand prize
Kathy H- runner up

Thanks everyone for entering and for visiting my blog especially! Your encouraging words have been very much appreciated. Ladies please email me your addresses so I can get your prize out to you (janette@olenfamily.net).

I also tried to add a subscription feature to my blog for you, not sure if I did it right or not but it is on the right side if you are interested in that option.

I may try to post a project here for you all later but we will see if I have time as it is going to be a busy day.

Last day to sign up for blog candy

Hi everybody. Today is the last day to post for my blog candy and I will draw for it in the morning. I have a real quick post because I need to head to dance dress rehearsal with the girls. A couple weeks ago I posted a Gina K baby card that I told you I was going to redo at some point. I did do it as promised. I kept the ovals but put them on rectangle base and added a tag and ribbon. Here is the finished card, I do like it better now.
