H&M blog hop- Festive Favorites

Hi everyone! The H&M stamps DT members have some awesome projects to show you for this month's blog hop. The theme this month is festive favorites. I made 2 candle and card sets to show you.



For the candles I stamped the images onto tissue paper and adhered them to my candle with wax paper and a heat tool. I then added stickles to them for some sparkle




For this card I stamped the holly leaves with my essential glue pad and sprinkled it with green glitter. I stamped the berries and painted royal red shimmerz over them.


I thought I would just show you how I made the snowflake wreath. First, I drew a circle in pencil using my CM circle cutter as a template.



Next, I started stamping my solid snowflakes around the circle lining up the notches on the snowflakes with the circle. I also started toward the bottom of the wreath so if it overlapped on the bottom the ribbon would cover it. I love these stamps for this because they are clear you see through them for perfect placement. I am sorry but this photo is a bit blurry but I hope you get the idea.



I then used my line snowflake stamp and stamped them in between the solid snowflakes using the line on the snowflakes to fit on the circle. This photo shows it a little better.



Continue stamping so the entire circle is filled then erase your pencil line. I also did one using only the line snowflake.


I like the combination of the solid and line snowflake images together though. I accented the snowflakes with stickles and a rhinestone in the center. I added my bow at the bottom and used my Marvy scallop corner punch on the top corners of the card. Here is a closer view of the finished card.

A week of projects

This week it seems that I have neglected my blog a bit. I have definitely made cards but I have been making up for lost time when I was away so I have not posted them here yet. This just means that there will be a lot to show today. I am going to divide the news and the projects by company so it is easier to find.

HIGH HOPES

First, today is the start of a new high hopes weekly challenge. It is a sketch challenge this week so for those of you who enjoy sketches be sure to check it out. There is also a blog hop with candy going on so again you just need to find out which diva is the one offering the candy by visiting the blogs listed under high hopes divas on my side bar to the right. Here is my challenge project for the week:



I colored the image with my SU markers on watercolor paper and spread the ink with my aquapainter. I also added some twinkling H2Os for shading which is what the tiny specs are on the kitty in the close up photo below.

H&M STAMPS

There is going to be a blog hop featuring holiday gifts starting on Saturday Nov. 1st so that should be alot of fun to see the different ideas that the DT comes up with.

I have 2 H&M projects today and I made both of them for Thursday's way to use it challenge on SCS which was to use one word.



I colored the image with copic markers.

For today's project though, I used the SCS sketch challenge for my layout.



I colored the image with my copics. I added liquid applique to the fur parts of Santa's suit, spica glitter pen to his beard, red stickles to the deer nose and holly, and gold stickles to the buckle and bells. I also popped up the sign.

Mojo Monday and a comparison between shimmerz and H2Os

Hi everyone! First thing, today is the start of another high hopes hop with blog candy of course! To enter you need to find out which diva is offering the candy and follow her instructions. The divas blogs are all listed on my side bar to the right under high hopes divas blogs.

I had a chance to work with Julee's mojo Monday sketch today. I really like it and will use it again. Here is the sketch I used.



I really like how this card came out- is it ok to like your cards LOL? I embossed my sentiment in gold on shimmer white and paper pierced around the border. I also embossed the holly on watercolor paper and colored it with forest green twinkling H2Os and royal red shimmerz before cutting it out. I stamped my green bg paper with the holly and versamark ink. I traced over the versamark with a clear spica glitter pen. I accented my card with gold shimmery ribbon across the middle and gold pearls in the corner and across the bottom. The holly is newly released from drs designs.

The second card was for the SCS technique challenge today. I had to improvise it a little as I did not have pink twinks so I used shimmerz.



I stamped my joyride percy with memento black, cut it out and colored with my copics. I then used bubblegum shimmerz on the car (thinking of the song pink cadillac yet?) and used silver stickles on the bumper and handle as well as icicle twinkling H2Os on percy. I used a white gel pen to draw my road on grey CS. I made my sky by sponging blue ink around my cloud template (giga scalloped oval acetate). The tree was stamped next over the sky and colored in. The "grass" was added next which was just some celery CS that I tore followed by the road strip. I adhered percy on top of the road. I stamped my sentiment on my metal edged tag and attached to my card with ribbon.

Before I go for today, I thought I would share with you a quick comparison of shimmerz and twinkling H2Os. Shimmerz is a thin almost transparent type paint that comes ready to use no need to activate with water. I use my aquapainter (without the water) or small watercolor paint brush to apply it. Twinkling H2Os are little cakes that come in a jar and need to be "activated" with water. I just use an aquapainter but some people just mist them with a sprayer and use a paint brush. Twinkling H2Os are more opaque than shimmerz and contain little tiny specs of sparkle. I would describe twinkling H2Os as more sparkly and shimmerz as more overall shimmery rather than sparkly. I hope that makes sense. You can sorta see the difference between percy's pink car and the green holly in the photos above. When using shimmerz you can see the black stamped lines through it. Twinkling H2Os are overall more vibrant in color and shimmerz are more subtle in color. Even the dark colored shimmerz look much lighter on paper. So, which do I prefer? Both! I like them for different uses. I absolutely LOVE angel wings shimmerz to use as snow and that would be my preferred product for that. As I learned from a couple of my fellow high hopes divas, H2Os are awesome for deepening shading and used in combination with watercoloring or prismapencils and gamsol. Sunday stamping

Today was the perfect day here in Buffalo. The sun was brilliant and the air was crisp and cool (about 60 degrees). I enjoyed making leaf crafts with my girls after spending some time at the playground. Then I had a chance to stamp- great ending to the day!

First, today is the start to a new high hopes weekly challenge. For the challenge I chose to make a stamped candle since the theme was anything but a card. The holidays are approaching and I thought it would be a great chance to start on some holiday gifts. I stamped my image on white tissue paper and colored it with my copics. I noticed that the colors are seem to soften when adhered to the candle. So, don't be shy with your coloring. You can get the instructions on how to make the candles in this tutorial on SCS. Once my image was adhered I used stardust stickles on the present and frosted lace stickles on the fur of the dress. I first tried shimmerz but it just beaded on the candle.

I also made 2 cards for the featured stamper challenge today.



I colored the image with copics and used angel wings shimmerz on the snow and a clear spica glitter pen on the candy. I stamped the bottom panel with my snowflake bg stamp. I accented the top circle with pearls which I colored with my red copic marker.

I stamped my dog house image twice using one as a mask and then stamped my dog in the doghouse. I stamped the dog a second time so that I could pop up the head. I colored my image with copics and sponged in the sky and grass. The second head was cut out and popped up. Crystal effects is on the nose. I pierced the top corner of the card and added eyelets to the bottom and twill across the middle.

Playing with Plaid

Before I get to my card for today there are a couple of things I would like to share with you. First, today starts another high hopes hop blog candy give away. How do you win? Second, you may remember that I mentioned meeting Korin from sweet n sassy stamps the other day. I have known for awhile that I was going to be on her design team for sweet n sassy but had to keep it secret LOL. Well, now I am able to share this news with you all. I am super excited and even more so after having met her in person. This company is so special to me because it allows me to combine my love of stamping with my first love- Jesus. Now for my card today. I was not able to play along with the color challenge on Tuesday so I thought I could combine it with today's ways to use it challenge today which was to use plaid. I first stamped my image, colored it with copics and added pink shimmerz and rhinestones to the cupcakes. I accented my corners by paper piercing around them. I tied a double ribbon around my card to finish it off. The cupcake oval is popped up on dimensionals.

H&M blog hop with CANDY!!!

My projects are not specifically fall related however, I think that they are wonderful gift ideas for the fall and winter months since it is getting colder outside. With the weather getting colder, how about some yummy treats to warm you up? My first project I seriously love how it came out- it is a mug to hold a packet of warm beverage be it tea, cocoa, soup or in my example coffee. I love this newly released set from H&M Stamps and it is great for coffee lovers but also can easily be used for tea or cocoa especially this first project. Take a peek:



I used this template and adapted it a bit for my own needs. I did not use adhesive to keep it closed because I stitched the 3 sides of it. I used my heart cb folder for the base because I thought it coordinated perfect with the sweet cup image. I used my fiskars heart border punch along the bottom, my corner rounder punch on the top and my corner scallop punch on the image. I accented with pearls, a spica glitter pen on the heart on the mug and ribbon of course. I decorated behind the packet with the coffee bean stamp from the set. The sentiment totally fits for items other than coffee like cocoa or soup. I think I am going to make these for Christmas gifts for the bus drivers etc. Inside this example is a packet of international foods vanilla latte- yum!

Here is my second project:



I bought a mug from Walmart and filled it with a packet of french vanilla coffee. I decorated the tissue paper with the coffee beans stamp. I stamped the coffee cups image and then stamped my sentiment beneath it. It was colored with copics and then adhered to a scalloped rectangle and used my punch to make 2 holes in the top. I tied a ribbon around the mug and through the punched holes into a bow and voila! Now you have a very easy thoughtful gift for someone special.

Limited supplies challenge

Today's challenge on SCS required you to use a "Christmas animal/critter" on your card and the only embellishment you could use was ribbon. Here is what I came up with:



I used liquid applique on his beard and stickles for the snow. I colored Riley with my prismapencils and gamsol rather than copics this time. I used my corner rounder punch to create the scallops on the bottom.

This is actually beachtime percy but I omitted his shovel and pail and replaced them with mittens and added a hat. I used shimmerz angel wings paint on his body and SU markers on the mittens and hat which I cut out and attached to my image. I made a slit on both sides of Percy and slid a ribbon through to make his scarf.

Color challenge day with H&M Stamps

Before I get on with today's post I just wanted to remind you to comment on this post for the chance to win my blog candy if you have not done so already.

I needed to complete some design team work for H&M Stamps and today's color challenge fit in perfectly. The first card I made used paper piecing for it.



I have very little of the new in color papers and today's challenge called for using 2 of them- kiwi kiss and baja breeze. I am very blessed to have received a 1/2 sheet of them from wish RAK. Well, I went through some of my dp and was thankful that I found some in my new Basic Grey collection that matched the colors exactly so I was able to stretch what I have. Anyway, I stamped the adorable little elephant from one of H&M Stamps newly released sets on my patterned paper and cut it out. I used my circle nestabilities and adhered my elephant to the kiwi circle. I cut 2 triangles of patterned paper and stitched them onto my vanilla card base. My sentiment was punched out with my word window punch.

This past weekend I bought 2 bushels of apples. Man is that A LOT of apples! I had no idea how many that really was. Being in NY we are pretty fortunate because they are plentiful this time of year here and each bushel was only $5. I still can't believe it. Anyway, I have been making apple everything this past weekend and included in the everything was apple butter. So this story was brought about because I thought I would give some apple butter to the new neighbors a few doors down when they move in. Along with the apple butter I will give them this card:



I stamped the house first and masked it to stamp my tree and then the stone path. I colored it with my prismapencils and gamsol and also used some chalks. I stamped my sentiment in the corner and double matted my image. I pierced the strip behind the image and added brads to the corners.

Did someone say glitter?!

Ok, someone pinch me because the technique challenge today on Splitcoast was glitter surprise. Oh my word was I tickled pink LOL! I LOVE glitter and bling and sparkle so just imagine me jumping up and down in my living room when I read it. Truthfully though I rarely use glitter in it's "raw" form and I only have clear/white glitter. I tend to use stickles, glitter pens or glittery embossing powder but not today I used the real stuff. My first card is probably now in my top 10 favorite cards that I have made. It is so sparkly and pretty and this is one of those that truly is prettier IRL. The photo is not too bad but just can not quite capture the sparkle. Take a look and see what you think.



I started by "inking" my border stamp from verve with my essentials glue pad and stamping it twice- glueing in between. I then sprinkled my glitter over it and WOW what a gorgeous bg!! I set it aside to set. I then stamped my center image twice and cut out the diamond from one and popped it on top of the other image. All the white layers except the card base were matted with a 1/16" border of silver paper. I accented my sentiment with 4 rhinestones in the corners. I attached to my glitter bg with glue dots because I wanted a strong adhesive because of the glitter. The card was finished by tying my ribbon in a bow at the top. This card measures 4 5/8" square.

My second card my daughter thought was so cool LOL! See what you think:



I stamped my guitar image repeatedly on my white paper to create my bg. I sponged the edges and used a stardust sakura gel pen on the centers of the guitars. This was matted and attached to the black card base. I inked my chipboard "U" with my black pigment pad and embossed it with silver jewels ep. I also embossed "rock" on my black rectangle. I offset the black rect. and silver rectangle and adhered to my card. I finished by attaching my "U" with glue dots. This set is great if you make cards for teens at all. Embossed shimmer

This uses the try a new technique challenge- embossed shimmer. I have to totally admit that this was so hard for me and was quite time consuming. The biggest problem is that I did not have the correct supplies (Lumiere) so I had to improvise and that truthfully is why I did not get the correct results. I tried using shimmerz paint alone and that was way too thin and transparent. I tried acrylic paint and pearl ex but that kinda cracks and I must not have had the correct amount of pearl ex because it was lumpy LOL. The card below uses versamark and pearl ex on the acetate. The results are pretty but when putting it together the adhesive did not stick and was taking the shimmer off the acetate so I had no choice but to use brads- and you thought they were for decoration didn't ya LOL?





After creating the time consuming bg, I stamped the image and masked it so I could stamp the snowflakes to create a wintry scene. I colored Riley with copics and painted the snowman with shimmerz- my new favorite product. The edge of the oval was sponged and snowflakes have stickles. The layout uses Frances' awesome sketch which is the hanna stamps! challenge of the week. You can see the deets here if you would like to play along with us.

I did make a second card using this technique and this one was done using the acrylic paint and pearl ex. The only color paint I had was orange so this is how I chose which image to use LOL. This adorable penguin is one of 40 newly stamps from H&M Stamps. It is called beach time Percy. There are 4 other Percy stamps I believe so if you are a penguin lover be sure to check them out. The penguin image is stamped with brilliance graphite black. I want to just take a minute to talk about black inks because they are not all created equal! If I am stamping an image with a lot of black like penguins or silhouettes I will use brilliance black because it has awesome coverage for these images. You can use it with copics but it may need to be heat set to do it especially if you don't have alot of drying time. Palette noir- a good universal black. I use this for gamsol technique and much of my general stamping. It is pretty good with copics but will sometimes bleed a bit if coloring directly on it. Versafine black- I use this with detailed images like Thomas Kinkade or if I have tried palette first and am not getting a good image. Last but not least is my newest find- Memento tuxedo black. This is my now my favorite ink for copic use. I have not experienced bleeding with it and have not needed to heat set. I hope this little tangent of mine will prove to be helpful to you. Anyway, I painted my penguin with shimmerz. Also painted with shimmerz is the white layer. This was one of my attempts at doing the technique that failed but I did not want to throw it out and found that it worked well for the white layer especially since it was shimmery like the penguin. The ribbon tag was sponged with summer sun ink while still in the nestie die. The layout uses Julee Tillman's mojo Monday sketch.

Hi folks! I do have a couple cards to show you but I kinda have to make it sorta quick and I am seriously sleep deprived and had better get to bed. Anyway, ahead of schedule I have turned one of them into a full card since it fit the sketch on SCS today perfectly.



I stamped my bg with my swirly snowflake stamp which I totally love from DRS designs (H519) in silver metallic ink and highlighted it with rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes, on the swirls and the corner of the card. I used my Fiskars snowflake border punch and tied some metallic silver ribbon in the center.

The next card uses one of the newly released stamp sets from H&M stamps generation of stitches. It is an adorable set and is now one of my favorite baby or little child sets. Make sure you check out their website because they just released 40 new sets on September 1st and there is free shipping this month too!!



Image was colored with prismacolor pencils and the elephant head is popped up on dimensionals.
