Christmas cash? Here a few Christmas sales for ya...

Hi everyone! I know it has been quite some time since I have been able to post and I knew that was going to happen with Christmas. I have not had a chance to stamp in well over a week so I hope I will remember how LOL. So unfortunately, I still don't have a card to post but I know that in the next couple of days I will. Tuesday is my day to post on the DRS Designs blog so I have a couple cards to share with you there also.

Anyway, there are a few cool sales going on with some of the companies I design with so I thought I would take just a minute to share them with you in case you were a fortunate recipient of some Christmas cash and you would like to pick something up for yourself.

Sweet N Sassy stamps has a year end sale going on with 10%-40% off select merchandise including, stamps, paper, inks etc. So be sure to pop on over there to see what bargains you can find. Also, be sure to stop back here on my blog on Thursday where I will have some sneak peeks to show you from the upcoming release on Friday. I will also have some pretty nice blog candy to offer to you as well.

Verve stamps- save 10%-20% off select stamp sets through Dec.31st

High Hopes- save 25% off the project of the month stamps. I usually have a sample to show you but this month I ran short on time so if you click on the link I provided you can see samples from 2 of the other divas featuring the POTM stamps.

Happy shopping everyone and hope you can visit again soon when I have some cards to share with you.

A week of challenges

Hi there everyone! I know it has been awhile since I have posted but like many of you I have been really busy trying finish things up for Christmas. I probably won't be able to post much until after the New Year either. I have some things that I worked on this week that I would like to share with you.

First up is my card that I made for the hanna stamps weekly challenge which I am the hostess of.

The challenge is to use non-traditional Christmas stamps or colors to create a Christmas project. I used a winter set and pink, celery and cocoa for my card. I colored the image with copics and used stickles on the bg dp I created and the hood. I painted the snowsuit with pink poinsettia blingz shimmerz.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps Ski Bunny, everyday sentiments
CS- pink pirouette, cocoa, celery, white
accessories- grosgrain ribbon, rhinestones, snowflakes cb folder, corner rounder punch, scallop punch, stickles, circle punch

My second card is for both the color challenge and sketch challenges this week on SCS. Due to time, I combined the 2 challenges.

I colored the image with prismapencils and gamsol and a few copics. I used a small paint brush to create the ground and bg behind Santa. I used liquid applique on the trim of the hat and a white gel pen for accents.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes fishing santa, best fishes
CS- not quite navy, white, Kaisercraft dp
accessories- prismapencils, gamsol, copics, liquid applique, brads, sewing machine

The last project/s I have to show you was for the ways to use it challenge this week. I created some simple ornaments to give as gifts.

I just stamped the snowflake, matted it and added sparkle stickers as an accent. The gold snowflake was embossed and the blue snowflake was sponged. I used stickers for the sparkle because glitter and similar products would not sandwich well between the glass. A tip for you- you can't use more than 3 layers of CS with the frames because they won't close- wonder how I know that LOL? They have a closure on the side of the frames.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps snowflake set
CS- white, metallic gold, blue bayou
ink- blue bayou, soft sky, versamark
accessories- Ranger memory glass and frames, ribbon, stampendous sparkle stickers

Have a wonderful day and hope you are safe and warm. We are having a winter storm right now here and my family and I are staying in and are definitely not going anywhere soon. I certainly don't look forward to shoveling out that is for sure!

Blessings,

Sketch challenge 206

Hello everyone, how are your Christmas preparations going? Me- I am far behind this year. Seems I am every year but this year is worse LOL. Oh well, it will be here soon whether I am ready or not.

I have another Christmas card to show you today with a matching ornament that I made. I actually have more ornaments to show you since that is the challenge for DRS designs for the next 2 weeks but I will have to post those another day since there is one more I would like to finish.

Here is my card which I played along with the sketch challenge on Splitcoast today. It was perfect for this image.

I colored the Santas with copic markers and used a spica glitter pen on the beard and liquid applique on the hat trim which was sprinkled with glitter. I stamped the bg paper with candy canes and santa hats with sky ink on sky paper. This layer was then sewn onto the red before attaching to the card base. It occurred to me that some of you might not be familiar with one of my favorite products of the season- liquid applique. This comes in a small pen type container and I purchased it at my local stamp store but it is available many places online and costs around $4. You apply it to the areas that you want a puffy texture. The consistancy is kinda like thick white glue. I many times sprinkle it lightly with glitter before heating it. To heat it, you just use a heat tool that you use for embossing and gently wave it over the wet applique. You will know it is ready when the "glue" starts to get puffy. Easy peasy!

Here is a closer look

I also made a matching ornament so I can use this as a gift set. The ornament was made by stamping one of the santas and coloring it with copics. Again I used a spica clear glitter pen for the beard but I used angel wings shimmerz for the trim. I did this because any type of texture/glitter would not sandwich well between the glass. I used 2X2 memory glass made by Ranger. The frame is also made by Ranger and comes in 3 different finishes. I purchased them at my local stamp store but again they can be found online. The frames come 3 to a pack and were around $5. I can not remember how many glass pieces come in the pack- like 20 I think. Also, my ornament has 4 layers of cardstock (image and 3 mattes) and it is slightly too thick but I made it work. Ideally the frames would work better with 2 and no more than 3.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes 3 pane Santa, candy cane, santa hat, and sentiment
CS- white, soft sky, red
accessories- clear spica glitter pen, copics (R27, R46, R59, BG10, E00, R32), liquid applique, glitter, angel wings shimmerz, Ranger memory glass, Ranger memory glass frames, sewing machine, white brads, satin ribbon, red grosgrain ribbon

Thank you for visiting me today, I really appreciate it!

Blessings,

Make a wish!

I have another sneak peek to show you. This is a look at I dream of hanna which is going to be released tonight after the release party. The party starts at 9PM EST in the hanna stamps forum on SCS and there are going to be prizes, challenges and chatting so be sure to stop by if you can.

I made this card for my mom for her birthday. I really did it up for her to make it more special. I blinged the envie even! I had to make sure I stitched on the card too because she does not even know that I learned how to sew a little. Last she knows I could not even thread a machine LOL! The challenge on splitcoast was to use envies so this fit right it.

I stamped my image and colored it with copics. I used opal shimmerz on the pants, stickles to accent the jewelry and added a rhinestone to the head piece. I also used shimmerz on the punched flowers. I sewed my dp on my matte and used stickles on the circle around the sentiment.

Supplies:
stamps- I dream of hanna from hanna stamps, verve wonderful wishes (sent), things hanna would say
CS- berry sorbet, pinks dp, white from PTI
accessories- copics (R20, R24, E00, yellows), fruit punch stickles, rhinestones, opal shimmerz, rect nesties, stitched ribbon, sewing machine, daisy punch, SU scallop punch

here is the inside: (PTI birthday basics was used along with one of the accessories from the hanna set)

close up of the envelope

BTW- R24 copic is a great match for PTI berry sorbet.

Hope to see you all at the release party tonight- gotta run and make lunch. Have a great day!

Hanna stamps December sneak peeks

Hi everyone! Tomorrow night after the release party Hanna stamps! is releasing 3 clear stamps sets and 2 Rileys. I have a couple cards using the new stamps to show you.

The first is called slumber party and is a must have if you make cards for pre-teen or teen girls. It is so cute and perfect for me since I have 3 girls and the oldest is 12. I made this card for one of her friends who turns 13 in a couple days. This is the first of her friends to become a teenager- YIKES! The image almost looks like her too so this card will be great.

I colored her with copics, used a spica glitter pen on the white of the jammies and stickles to the hearts and bows. I also sponged both the image and sentiment. The layout is the sketch challenge today on SCS.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps slumber party
CS- bazzill brown, PTI sweet blush, SU olive, white
accessories- spica glitter pen, stardust stickles, rect nesties, satin ribbon, sponge, copics (E33, E37, R24, R32, G21, B00, BG10, E00)

Closer view of sparkle

Here is a peek at van Riley:

I did the color challenge on SCS yesterday for the colors- vanilla, sahara sand, black. I colored Riley with a combo of copics, and blender pen and inkpads.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps van riley, SU sanded bg and loads of love access for sent
accessories- copics, circle nesties, corner rounder punch, paper piercer, sewing machine

Sweet N Sassy November blog hop

Well, here it is Black Friday in the US. Were you out standing in line trying to get some good deals at 4AM? I have never been able to do it mostly because my hubby has to work and there is noone to watch the girls. Well if you did, I hope you were able to get what you were looking for.

Speaking of Black Friday...Sweet N Sassy has a super duper fabulous sale!!!

On to my project for you today. Sweet N Sassy stamps has moved to an every other month release and December is an off month so we are going to focus on some classic sets this month. One of my favorite sets from SNSS is called Christmas cheer and it is over the top cute! Many of us will be giving gift cards for Christmas this year so one of the challenges this week on Splitcoast was to create a pop up gift card holder. Here is one that I made to show you:

I stamped my image and colored it with copics. I used liquid applique sprinkled with glitter on the top of the stocking and a spica glitter pen on the heel and toe. I also a white gel pen to draw stitches in on it so that it would match with the stitching I did with the sewing machine around the image. My layout is from Jen DelMuro's sketch for you to try this week. The only thing is that I wish I would have popped up the puppy's head- next time though. I sanded the edges of the dp.

Here is the inside

If you would like to make one of these you can find the instructions HERE.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Christmas cheer
CS- soft sky, white, real red, basic grey figgy pudding dp

Sketch challenge 204

Hi everyone! Are you all busy getting ready for Thanksgiving? I sorta am- my dd and I are trying to clean the house. I am doing what I am able. I am still not feeling well and my hubby has it pretty bad now too. So, it appears that we will be going out for dinner tomorrow. It actually sounds like a good idea to me at this point and then maybe just have my mom and m-i-l over for dessert after. I think I can handle that.

Well in between cleaning I did manage to make a card while I was taking a break- ok if you know me it was a long break LOL. I used some newly released images from DRS Designs for today's challenge.

I first stamped the 2 trees and colored them with copics. I then accented them with a white gel pen to look like snow and stickles. I used chalks to create the sky with the sun rising or setting. I painted the snow with angel wings shimmerz. The penguin was colored with copics and a spica glitter pen, cut out and adhered with pop dots to my scene. I ran the white card base layer and blue strip through my cuttlebug. The cardstock is a really pretty pearlescent that I found at Wal-mart and was pretty cheap. I stamped by snowflake bg on the white square and stamped my sentiment over that.

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs D122, F179, H187, E638
CS- pearlescent white and blue, white, black
accessories- silver edge ribbon, chalks, stardust stickles, angel wings shimmerz, spica glitter pen, copics, black brads, corner rounder punch, snowflake cb folder

Today starts the sweet n sassy monthly blog hop and the schedule is listed at the top of my sidebar on the right. The DT members are sure to have some awesome projects to show you over the next few days.

Color challenge day with Riley and SNSS

Today's colors for the SCS challenge are vanilla, really rust and going gray. With Thanksgiving coming in only a couple days I thought it might be nice to make a couple last cards for the holiday. For the first card I had some basic grey dp that fit perfectly for this challenge so here it is:

I stamped the scripture on shimmer white paper in rust ink and sponged grey around the outside. I punched 2 borders out of black paper and attached them to the top and bottom of the verse. Here is a closeup:

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy Stamps Thanksgiving scripture
CS- going grey, black, shimmer white, rust, basic grey ambrosia dp
accessories- Fiskars sunburst border punch, shimmer brads, pearls, satin ribbon

This great set is just one of the many stamp sets that are on sale at Sweet N Sassy stamps for 15% off. In addition you will receive free stamps with a $50 purchase in addition to the free shipping with $50 too. If you decided to take advantage of the sale just be sure to mention that Janette sent you in the comments section of your order and let me know and I will personally send you a card and a little something as an extra thank you.

I do have another card to show you. This card is a triple challenge card- I used the mojo 62 sketch for the layout, the color challenge, and the hanna stamps weekly challenge which was to create a scene.

I colored Riley with copics and I created sky and grass with chalks. I stamped the sentiment and sponged rust around it and ran my black ink pad along the edges. I punched out 2 strips and adhered them to the top and bottom according to the sketch.

Supplies:
stamps- Hanna Stamps everyday sentiments, turkey Riley
CS- black, rust, vanilla, grey, fall flowers dp
accessories- MS zig zag punch, copics, square punch, grey grosgrain, stampin pastels

DRS Challenge #9

Today starts a new biweekly challenge over at DRS designs. The challenge was to use one of the awesome postage stamp images as the main image. This was an exercise in thinking outside the box because when you first view these stamps you might not realize how versatile they are. I have to admit that I first only thought of them for my envelope art but what an awesome way to coordinate your card and envelope. Have a look:

I started by creating my bg paper using the snowflake bg stamp, an essential glue pad and glitter. I stamped my snowman image and colored it with copics. I accented the snowman with a spica glitter pen and painted shimmerz on the snow. I stamped my sentiment in the middle of the frame. I did pop the snowman up with pop dots for dimension. I also sponged the image while in the nestability die.

Here are a couple more views:

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs F686, H015, A277
CS- pearlescent blue CS, white, prism blue CS
accessories- glitter, essential glue pad, ribbon, rhinestones, marvy scallop corner punch, square nesties, paper piercer, angel wings shimmerz, spica glitter pen, copics, martha stewart snowflake punch

You can see all the great envelope art stamps on the DRS website and be sure to check out the other DT members challenge cards for some inspiration over on the DRS designs blog and check out the details if you would like to play along with us.

High Hopes challenge #9

Today starts a new challenge for high hopes and therefore a new chance to win some stamps. A random winner will be drawn from all those who participate in this week's challenge. It is an awesome sketch brought to us by Ila (SCS craftess). Here is the sketch we had to work with:

Here is my sample:

Image was colored with copics. I did have a little problem with bleeding this time so I had to try and fix it. The green from the shirt bled into the beard so that is why I outlined it with a white gel pen. I ended up liking the white gel pen but I could not fix the dog bleeding- oh well, it is not too bad. I added spica glitter pen to the beard and bone bow. Stickles were added to the trim of hat and boots as well as poinsettias. Speaking of poinsettias...this card is inspired by my dear friend Korin (owner of Sweet N Sassy stamps) and I have affectionately named her an enabler. You see I saw the ribbon and poinsettias on some of her cards and knew I *needed* them. Well, truth be told it is not too hard to get me to buy ribbon LOL. I also decided to sand the edges of my dp which is also something I saw Korin do. I have sanded my white core CS before but not dp as I did not know basic grey sanded so well and had a white core also.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes Christmas treat, Sweet N Sassy sentiment
CS- basic grey dp, white, artichoke
accessories- stardust stickles, spica glitter pen, white gel pen, ribbon, ponsettias, gold brads, oval punch, corner rounder punch, sanding block

Ok, so I mentioned that you have a chance to win some high hopes stamps. You can check out the details HERE.

Dawn

Congratulations Dawn!! I will get the card and stamps right out to you. Hope you will enjoy them.

Korin, the wonderful generous owner of Sweet N Sassy stamps has given each DT member a set of stamps to give away during the month of November. So this week it is my turn and Christi's turn for blog candy. The set I am giving away is called Primitive Christmas and Korin will mail it directly to the winner. Here is a picture of the set:

I will be mailing this card to the winner that I made as a sample to show you all.

I colored the image with copics and then added shimmerz to the trim and used a spica glitter pen on the beard. I used the mojo61 sketch for my layout. The sentiment was stamped in between 2 score lines and I framed it with paper piercing.

Have a closer peek:

Chocolate is Sweet N Sassy

Hey there! I can not believe it but I have another cold! This is completely crazy. This time I can't taste anything which I guess is both good and bad. Anyway, the challenge on SCS today is to use something chocolate on your card. Since I can't taste chocolate right now, chocolate ink, ribbon and pencils will have to do LOL.

I colored this image a couple weeks ago with prismapencils and gamsol but just had not had a chance to put it into a card. It worked out well today because since I am feeling pretty lousy I did not have much energy even for stamping. I used a spica glitter pen on the snow and painted the primas with shimmerz.

closeup:

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Winter at Home
CS- choc chip, white, soft sky dp, afternoon tea dp
accessories- taffeta ribbon, sewing machine, primas, coffee shimmerz, angel wings shimmerz, prismapencils, gamsol, SU oval punch, shimmer brads

I will be drawing the winner for the high hopes blog candy tomorrow so be sure to comment on THIS post if you have not already done so.

Also, I will be starting a new blog candy drawing tomorrow so hope you can stop by.

Have a nice weekend!
