Soccer Cocoa for Lindsey

This is a card I made for my daughter Lindsey's birthday next week. I can't believe I have it done early too lol. Well, truth be told it was supposed to be made into a Christmas ornament but I ran out of time. Anyway, I used the Cocoa Loves Soccer digi and typed in "Lindsey" underneath to personalize it. One cool thing about digis :). I colored it with copics and used the Sweet Stop Sketch this week for my layout.

7 Kids College Fund Challenge

The challenge for the next 2 weeks on the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge blog is to try something new or that you are uncomfortable or that you need to practice. The lucky winner of this challenge will receive a $20.00 gift certificate towards the brand new Magnolia So Special collection. Boy, I sure wish I could win lol. There are a couple images in this collection that I just love!

For my card I wanted to practice watercoloring with distress inks and to try shabby chic. I tend to do clean lines and copic coloring so I thought this would stretch me a bit. I have to say that overall I am happy with how my card came out. I used the adorable Sweet Tilda image from Magnolia. I used a good deal of crackle paint on the all the edges and did some paper tearing to try and help achieve that shabby chic look. I also added some stickles to the dress and her hair bows.

Crazy for Cocoa Sweet Stop

I colored my Chef Cocoa with copics and then embossed the sentiment from the kitchen sentiments digi set and my image using my nestabilities. I then sponged around them with vintage photo distress ink while they were still in the die. The layout for my card today is the Sweet Stop sketch for the week. This week has a dry embossing spin as well and a prize up for grabs too. The background paper fits the image is so well and it is from my stash that I have had forever.

Love You Snow Much

I think this adorable Snowy Hug is one of my favorite Magnolia images! Good news too, it is now back in stock at 7 Kids College Fund. It is colored with copics and then stickles were used for the snow and on the trim of the hats and coat. I also used a spica clear glitter pen around the snowman but that is not showing too well in the photos. Around the edges of the patterned paper, I used picket fence crackle paint. I really like the look of it but I need to improve a bit in my application of it. Also, I found out that the crackle paint chips off when I sewed after applying. So, I will either not sew when I use it or maybe try to apply after sewing.

Detail shot

Don't forget that there is still time to play along with the 7 Kids Challenge which is Hot or Cold. As a matter of fact, my card today is another sample today to hopefully inspire you :).

CAS Snowflakes

I decided to create a clean and simple card today. It is actually the first time that I can remember anyway that I did not mat any of the layers on the card. It is not my favorite card but it is pretty with all the subtle sparkle. I stamped the Snowflake background and sentiment from Sweet N Sassy stamps onto Paper Temptress blanc sparkle with Fired Brick Distress Ink. I then sponged around the sentiment while in the mega curved rectangle nestabilites die with broken china distress ink. The corners were accented with crystal gemstones.

Sparkly Snowman

I decided to play along with 2 of the Splitcoast challenges and came up with this card. The technique challenge was to paint your image with stickles and the color challenge was red, white and gray/silver so I combined the two. My adorable snowman from the newly released Snow Special stamp set by Sweet N Sassy stamps was "painted" with candy cane, star dust, and silver stickles. The snowflake strip at the bottom was stamped in red ink with the brand new Snowflake Background stamp. The white background panel was embossed with my cuttlebug polka dots embossing folder. I added silver pearls for the "buttons", in the scallops, and in the corners.

here is a closer look at the sparkle

Sweet N Sassy stamps

Hot or Cold??

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you! It has been awhile since I have posted. I was pretty sick for around 2 weeks and my head hurt way too bad to craft. I am happy to say that as of Monday I am feeling better and was able to make a couple cards yesterday.

I am very excited to share that I have been asked to join the 7 Kids College Fund DT! I am looking forward to sharing some new stamp lines with you and the 7 kids store is full of many crafting products that most of us use and love.

Every other Wednesday 7 Kids College Fund hosts a new challenge for you to participate in and have a chance to win a great prize. The challenge for the next 2 weeks is Extreme Hot or Cold- you choose and the prize being offered is a $20 GC for the new Belles and Whistles pre-order in the store. I am really excited that this new line is being added to the store and I look forward to coloring those sweet Elisabeth Bell images.

For my card today I chose cold. I am longing for some warmer temps that is for sure but I still have some adorable winter images that I want to use. I used Tilda with Gift for my card today.

I stamped Tilda with memento tuxedo black onto Neenah white paper and colored her with my copics. I added star dust stickles to the trim of the coat, top of hat, the present, and the ground under Tilda. I used lavender stickles on the ribbon of the gift. I sponged antique linen distress ink around the image before sewing the edges. Pearls were added to accent the center of my snowflakes and the corners of the card. The patterned paper I used is from Cosmo Cricket.

Here is a close up

The coat and hat are more purple in color than the photo is showing. I took several photos and it still came out different than in person.

Supplies used:

stamp- Tilda with Gift
copics- coat/hat V91, V93, V95, V97; present- BG0000, BG10, BG11; skin- E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, R21; hair and boots- E53, E55, E57; legs- N0, N2

stickles- stardust, lavender
ink- memento black, and antique linen distress ink
