mojo Monday 145

This is a busier than normal week for my daughters and I. They are going to VBS this week and the 2 youngest have it in the morning and my oldest has it at night so I have been doing quite a bit of driving. This has not left me with much crafting or blogging time. I am just now getting to show you the mojo Monday sketch for the week. As always, Julee gave us a great starting canvas. I did struggle with it a bit at first but once I figured out what I was going to use it fell into place. My sample and the sketch are below.

I stamped the butterfly from Sweet N Sassy stamps Everyday Miracles set 3 times onto Neenah white and colored with copics. I cut 2 of them out and layered them on top of one another curling up the ends to give it extra dimension. I added black pearls to the body and stickles on the wings for sparkle. The card measures 5.5 inches square and truthfully was about 1/2 inch too big in my opinion. When I was putting the card together I was not happy with the open areas so I just *had* to add something. Well, I pretty much cleaned out most of my stash of pearls so that I could outline the edges with them. I like how it came out but would go smaller next time. I could not really change it this time because I had already sewn the edges before I noticed I was not happy with the size.

Supplies:
clear stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Everyday Miracles
paper- Neenah white and black from Paper Temptress, amethyst dp from SU
accessories- white crocheted lace, black grosgrain ribbon, white pearls, circle nesties, stardust stickles, black pearls, foam tape, sewing machine
copics- BV0000, BV00, B63

Please stop on by the mojo Monday blog for info on this week's sketch and you certainly would not want to miss what the other mojo makers have to show you.

I am also submitting this card for the following challenges:
Fussy and Fancy Friday- monochromatic with wings
ABC Challenge- Xtra dimension

Sweet!

Happy Lord's day Sunday. We are just about ready to head out to church and I had a few minutes so I thought that I would show you a card using one of my favorite images these days- Cocoa mouse. This cutie is from the newly released So Sweet Cocoa set from Sweet N Sassy stamps.

I stamped the image onto Neenah white, colored with copics, added stickles to the frosting, distressed the edges by sponging with antique linen distress ink, and then sewed around the edges. The strip across the middle was run through the heart cuttlebug folder and lace followed by ribbon was added on top. The roses were spritzed with dazzling diamonds glimmer mist. There is alot of dimension on this card as each layer is adhered with foam tape (good thing I have a gigantic roll that I got at Staples lol).

Embossed Poppies

It has been awhile since I used my heat tool and did some embossing so I thought it was about time to dust it off and use it lol. The challenge on SCS and Crafty Ann's was embossing so that gave me the final nudge.

I used a couple of new stamp sets released from Sweet N Sassy stamps for my card called Amazing Grace (on 6/27) and Poppies and Greetings. I embossed the scripture verse with gold ep onto cryogen white (which is on sale at Paper Temptress) and then sponged turquoise ink around it while still in the labels die. I then used a gold paint pen to edge around the shape to further accent it. This was adhered to a turquoise oval and then onto a scalloped gold oval and then finally onto a gold fancy tag that I cut in half. I stamped 3 poppies and also embossed them with gold before cutting them out and adhering around my scripture verse. The card base is the super yummy candido incandescent from Paper Temptress which is an ivory color with a touch of texture and gold shimmer- love it! The color combo for the Creative Inspirations challenge to use turquoise, gold and cream so that is why I used these colors on my card. My layout is the sweet stop sketch for the week and I kept the layers fairly minimal for me with this card.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Poppies and Greetings, Amazing Grace (releasing 6/27)
Paper- blue ice sorbet, candido incandescent, cryogen white, antique gold metallic all from Paper Temptress
accessories- pearls (cream, gold), fleur de lis punch EK Success, nestabilities- ovals (classic and scalloped), labels 8, fancy tags, gold ep, heat tool, gold paint pen

Challenges that I am submitting my card for:

Sweet Stop sketch
Crafty Creations challenge- shine
Crazy 4 challenges- use paper flowers (my poppies)
Crafty Ann's challenge- embossing

mojo Monday 144

Hey folks! Well, apparently I forgot to post last week's mojo card sample I made- ugh. Back on track for you this week though. We had a great sketch to work with this week which works well with many types of images. Below are the sketch and my sample:

I tried to do something a bit different this week. I tend to use clean lines on my cards so I thought I would try something out of my comfort zone- distressing. I struggle a bit with it and this time is no exception as maybe I went overboard. I stamped my gorgeous June rose from Sweet N Sassy stamps onto Neenah white and colored it with copics. I used distress inks in antique linen, vintage photo and walnut stain for my distressing. I roughed up the edges with scissors and crumpled the paper as well. I also used a deco silver glitter pen on the distressed edges which is something that Kim Piggott does and I thought looked cool. I think maybe what I will do next time is either do a cracked glass technique or stamp over the colored image with a linen bg stamp. All of the layers were roughed with scissors, then distressed with walnut stain before blinging them up with the glitter pen.

Mojo Monday 142- contest week!

Hi there! It is the mojo Monday contest week. The first Monday each month Julee gives away up to 7 Verve sets to the entries judged to be "mojo-est". Below is the sketch for the week and my sample.

I am pretty pleased how this card came out. The butterfly and sentiment are from the newly released Everyday Miracles set from Sweet N Sassy stamps. Isn't it gorgeous! It is available in BOTH digi and clear stamps- pretty neat? I have used the stamp and digi for my card. I colored the butterfly with copics, added stickles for some sparkle and cut it out and raised slightly with foam tape. The paper I used has some great sparkle in it as well and is called blanc sparkle from Paper Temptress. This cardstock is awesome for copics and for digital images. It is available in both text weight which is great for layers and in cardstock 92# which works well for coloring and for the bases. It is one of my favorites and is a must-have in my opionion especially since it is on sale for 25% off in June. There are 6 colors to choose from and my black layers are noir sparkle from the same line. The beautiful roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts in the UK and come in so many colors and sizes. The ones that I used are 10, 15, and 25mm white that I sponged the tips with sky ink and added stickles to. The edges of the patterned paper, image, and sentiment were sponged/distressed with ink before sewed on. I added a tiny black rhinestone between each of the scallops and pearls in the corners. There is a lot going on with this card but I do like it and hope you do too. Now, the flowers would make it difficult to mail so this will be a hand delivered card.

Sweet N Sassy stamps June blog hop

Well, the time has finally arrived. Clear stamps are officially back at Sweet N Sassy stamps and I am very pleased about it! To celebrate our first new stamp release we are having a blog hop to showcase all of the 6 new sets and a release party tonight at 8PM EST.

Now in the tradition of blog hops and release parties, you know that there are going to be some great prizes being given away! Two of our DT members are giving away some blog candy as part of our blog hop so you are going to want to be sure to stop by each of the blogs to see who has the candy.

I am featuring the "Woof You" set today. The puppy image is soooo cute, I just love it! This set is available in BOTH clear stamp or as a digital set that is called Puppy Love. So, you can chose whichever way you prefer- pretty cool right? Take a look:

I stamped my puppy image onto Blanc Sparkle cardstock from Paper Temptress (it's on sale too 25% off for the month of June) and colored it with my copics (all warm greys). I created my own patterned paper by stamping the little bone image repeatedly onto my paper. All the edges were sewn with my sew mini, and then it was fnished off with some brads and buttons. The scarf was paper pieced with a scrap of dp and I added some shading on it with my marker for depth. The layout for the card is the sweet stop sketch this week and there is still penty of time to play along.I was happy how it came out.

here is a closer look

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy stamps Woof You
