Grid Technique

The challenge for today on Splitcoast was the grid technique. At first I was not too excited as lately I have done quite a few as backgrounds on my cards but then I thought that I never did try to stamp on the grid. So that is just what I did for something new and I love it! In fact I love it so much that I did several and I even started a few more with different images to finish off another time. Here they are for you to see:

I started out by creating my grid scoring at 1 inch intervals. Then I stamped my image on the side where the score lines go in not the raised side. I actually made a mistake and stamped on the wrong side first so I thought that I would just mention this if you have not tried this technique before. You can make any size grid (1/2" intervals) or make them in diagonals too but I went with 1 inch because it resembles looking out a window for this particular image. I then matted my image and for 2 of them I stamped my sentiment with versamark ink and embossed it with embossing powder on vellum. This was attached to the image with brads. Believe it or not, once I got the idea down these are pretty fast to make- must be since I made 3 AND made homemade sauce and meatballs today LOL!

Supplies-
stamps- Thomas Kinkade Stonehearth hutch, Stampin Up sentiments
ink- versamark, versafine crimson red, versafine olympia green, SU night of navy
CS/paper- bliss blue, night of navy, true thyme, cranberry crisp, holiday thyme dp, vellum
accessories- stickles, organdy ribbon, cord, brads, embossing powder, scor-pal

So, I would be interested to know which one you like best and why so if you have a minute to comment that is great.

Thanks for stopping by!

Janette, all three cards turned out gorgeous!!!
Card #1-I love the lt.blue/silver/snow combo!
Card #2-I really like the "lit" windows and the silver embossing on the black! (probably my fav if I had to choose)
#3-I like that you used a color for the stamp itself.
I do think they're all terrific and the way you attached the piece of vellum with brads...great idea!
Blessings! And thanks for sharing the how-to also!!!

WOW!!!!! Enough said! I must say I like #1 the best, just because I like the blues and that particular DP. But overall, I prefer the 2 that used the DP. But, of course, all are absolutely beautiful!!

OK. Four time loser here, trying to make that card!! I'm going to SCS and see if there's any tips. My scoring doesn't hold up to the pressure of the stamp, so the grid is kind of SQUISHY in places. Arrrghhh

I'm picking card number 2. Their all great but I like the lit up windows, kind of pops the card...

Oh my gosh! These are lovely! I was scared to try the technique, but you make it sound easy peasy! Also, I tagged you. No pressure to play along, I took a month to do mine. You can check it out here:

These are beautiful. I think I like the blue toned one the best - makes it really LOOK wintery.
