It's Sweet N Sassy Time!

I am very excited to be showing you my first cards ever with Sweet N Sassy stamps. One of the things that I love about SNSS are the scripture sets so I chose to feature the new "Rejoice" set today. This set along with 5 other sets are going to be released on Saturday Nov. 1st. They are also celebrating their one year anniversary with this release as well so there are going to be some extra special surprises in store. The release party starts tomorrow (Friday the 31st) at 9PM in the SNSS forum.

The first card is for the ways to use it challenge today and uses the cracked glass technique.

I stamped my scripture with choc ink and then sponged all around the edges using the vintage verve technique using soft sky first then baja breeze on the very outer edges. Then I stamped my versamark ink over the top and embossed with glassy glaze ep 4 times before sticking it in the freezer and cracking it.

Supplies:
stamps- sweet n sassy rejoice
CS- choc chip, white, baja breeze, basic grey offbeat dp
ink- brilliance choc, baja breeze, soft sky, versamark
accessories- fiskars border punch, taffeta ribbon, brown brads, glassy glaze ep

For my second card I used the "rejoice evermore" sentiment which I embossed with detail gold ep and die cut with my circle nestability. I then die cut another circle the same size to showcase my sentiment by placing it in the center of a beautiful circle frame. Now, I wish I could say that I was talented enough to come up with this idea on my own but I got the idea for the frame from the amazingly talented Becca of Amazing Paper Grace. She has an awesome video tutorial on how to make one of these frames here. Now I did make a few changes to it- I used the second largest circle in the large circle nestie set rather than the large one that she used, I used the wrought iron corner punch, and I mark the center of each section of pie so I know where to line up my punch. I used pop dots to place the frame on top of the sentiment circle which was then placed on a gold scalloped circle. I accented it by placing a white pearl in each scallop and a gold pearl in the design. I embossed my shimmer white layer with my birds and swirls folder, punched the corners with my scallop corner punch and tied a ribbon into a bow around it. This was layered on gold and adhered to my card base. Here are some additional photos below.

Supplies:
stamps- Sweet N Sassy Stamps Rejoice
CS-SU brushed gold, shimmer white
accessories- gold sheer metallic ribbon, gold detail ep, gold pearls, white pearls, circle nesties, cb folder, marvy scallop corner punch

My third card also uses the rejoice set.

I stamped my scripture, die cut with my rectangle nestie then sponged the edges with artichoke ink while it was still in the die. I really love this effect and do it frequently. I ran my navy strip through my cuttlebug and then sanded the raised areas. This is close to my heart CS and it has a white core so the white shows through when sanded. This is similar to the new coredinations CS which SNSS carries along with the basic grey patterned paper used on this card. Pretty cool huh- you can get great stamps and all the other supplies you need all in one spot. I used my Fiskars border punch along the strip also. I stitched my dp onto my base, layered the strip on top, and tied a ribbon around the middle. The sentiment was attached to the card using pop dots and the primas were attached in the corner with glue dots.

Supplies-
stamps- Sweet N Sassy Rejoic
CS- CTMH autumn harvest, basic grey boxer dp
ink- SU night of navy, artichoke
accessories- shimmer brads, primas, divine swirls cb folder, satin strip organdy ribbon, rectangle nestabilities, sewing machine, Fiskars sunburst border punch

I am so glad that you took the time to visit my blog today. From here you will hop on over to Korin's blog and Christi's blog to see what sneak peeks they have for you today.

But before I go I want to let you know that there is some blog candy being offered by one of the high hopes divas but you have to do a little bit of work and find out who it is offering it first. The divas' blog links are all listed on my sidebar to the right.

Have an awesome day!!

Get hoppin with Sweet N Sassy and DRS Designs

Good Monday morning everybody! The biweekly challenge for DRS designs is posted on their blog this morning. Cathy came up with a terrific sketch to work with. My card to show you this morning is fairly simple and straight forward which is sometimes a nice change for me. I think it is still cute though.

I used my snowflake bg stamp, which is a new release bg, to stamp the white panel with my essential glue pad. I then sprinkle glitter over it and put it aside to "set". Then I stamped the blue section with the same stamp using white craft ink. I painted my snowman image with icicle twinkling H2Os and colored the rest of it using my copics. I then put stickles on the scarf and buttons. I accented the sections with my ticket corner punch and finished off by adding pearls to the 4 corners.

here is a close up trying to show the shimmer of the twinkling H2Os on the snowman

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs G383, P188, H015
CS- prism blue, white, bliss blue
ink- white, essential glue pad, not quite navy
accessories- glitter, pearls, ticket corner punch, stickles, twinkling H2Os, copics

Be sure to check out the DRS blog to see what the other DT members created and for the sketch in case you would like to play along with us.

Today is the start of the sneak peeks for the sweet n sassy stamps release that will occur on Friday Nov. 1st. Let me just say that I really love all the sets for this release and I am sure that you will too! Not to mention that Korin has some awesome surprises planned in honor of SNSS 1 year anniversary. Maybe there will be prizes or sales or... LOL? You will have to stop by and visit the release party on Thursday night to find out more info. But for now, what are you waiting for? Fly on over to the Sweet N Sassy blog to catch the first peek at a totally adorable new set.

Have a wonderful day!

A week of projects

This week it seems that I have neglected my blog a bit. I have definitely made cards but I have been making up for lost time when I was away so I have not posted them here yet. This just means that there will be a lot to show today. I am going to divide the news and the projects by company so it is easier to find.

HIGH HOPES

First, today is the start of a new high hopes weekly challenge. It is a sketch challenge this week so for those of you who enjoy sketches be sure to check it out. There is also a blog hop with candy going on so again you just need to find out which diva is the one offering the candy by visiting the blogs listed under high hopes divas on my side bar to the right. Here is my challenge project for the week:

I colored the image with my SU markers on watercolor paper and spread the ink with my aquapainter. I also added some twinkling H2Os for shading which is what the tiny specs are on the kitty in the close up photo below.

Supplies:
stamps- high hope Callie Christmas kitty and large and small candycanes, drs designs sentiment
CS- riding hood red, olive, watercolor, my mind's eye dp, basic grey dp
accessories- SU markers, aquapainter, forest green and chesnut brown twinkling H2Os, making memories shimmer brads, SU taffeta ribbon, oval nesties, CM wave cutter

Visit the high hopes blog to see the sketch and check out the other divas creations.

H&M STAMPS

There is going to be a blog hop featuring holiday gifts starting on Saturday Nov. 1st so that should be alot of fun to see the different ideas that the DT comes up with.

I have 2 H&M projects today and I made both of them for Thursday's way to use it challenge on SCS which was to use one word.

I colored the image with copic markers.

accessories- choc grosgrain, CM circle punch, corner rounder punch, oval punch, brads, copics (E21, E33, E37, G21, RV11, black

This image was also colored with copics. Stickes were added to the cupcakes as well as rhinestones. I used the our creative corner sketch from last Sat for the layout.

CS- riding hood red, baja breeze, basic grey cupcake dp
accesories- copics, diamond stickles, pink rhinestones, SU taffeta ribbon, ribbon tag die, ticket corner punch

DRS DESIGNS

Tomorrow is the start of another biweekly challenge on the DRS blog so be sure to check back tomorrow to see the card I made for it. Just a hint, this is another sketch challenge to work with.

For today's project though, I used the SCS sketch challenge for my layout.

I colored the image with my copics. I added liquid applique to the fur parts of Santa's suit, spica glitter pen to his beard, red stickles to the deer nose and holly, and gold stickles to the buckle and bells. I also popped up the sign.

Mojo Monday and a comparison between shimmerz and H2Os

Hi everyone! First thing, today is the start of another high hopes hop with blog candy of course! To enter you need to find out which diva is offering the candy and follow her instructions. The divas blogs are all listed on my side bar to the right under high hopes divas blogs.

I had a chance to work with Julee's mojo Monday sketch today. I really like it and will use it again. Here is the sketch I used.

I really like how this card came out- is it ok to like your cards LOL? I embossed my sentiment in gold on shimmer white and paper pierced around the border. I also embossed the holly on watercolor paper and colored it with forest green twinkling H2Os and royal red shimmerz before cutting it out. I stamped my green bg paper with the holly and versamark ink. I traced over the versamark with a clear spica glitter pen. I accented my card with gold shimmery ribbon across the middle and gold pearls in the corner and across the bottom. The holly is newly released from drs designs.

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs K286, F1004
CS- garden green, red bazzill bling, brushed gold, shimmer white
ink- versamark
accessories- gold ribbon, circle nesties, paper piercer, gold pearls, gold ep, spica glitter pen, royal red shimmerz, forest twinkling H2Os

The second card was for the SCS technique challenge today. I had to improvise it a little as I did not have pink twinks so I used shimmerz.

I stamped my joyride percy with memento black, cut it out and colored with my copics. I then used bubblegum shimmerz on the car (thinking of the song pink cadillac yet?) and used silver stickles on the bumper and handle as well as icicle twinkling H2Os on percy. I used a white gel pen to draw my road on grey CS. I made my sky by sponging blue ink around my cloud template (giga scalloped oval acetate). The tree was stamped next over the sky and colored in. The "grass" was added next which was just some celery CS that I tore followed by the road strip. I adhered percy on top of the road. I stamped my sentiment on my metal edged tag and attached to my card with ribbon.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M stamps joyride percy, old english access (tree), SU loads of love sentiment
CS- celery, pink, white, basic grey
ink- bashful blue, pink, memento black
accessories- bubblegum shimmerz, copics, silver stickles, pink taffeta ribbon, metal edge tag, pink rhinestones, icicle twinkling H2Os, white gel pen

Before I go for today, I thought I would share with you a quick comparison of shimmerz and twinkling H2Os. Shimmerz is a thin almost transparent type paint that comes ready to use no need to activate with water. I use my aquapainter (without the water) or small watercolor paint brush to apply it. Twinkling H2Os are little cakes that come in a jar and need to be "activated" with water. I just use an aquapainter but some people just mist them with a sprayer and use a paint brush. Twinkling H2Os are more opaque than shimmerz and contain little tiny specs of sparkle. I would describe twinkling H2Os as more sparkly and shimmerz as more overall shimmery rather than sparkly. I hope that makes sense. You can sorta see the difference between percy's pink car and the green holly in the photos above. When using shimmerz you can see the black stamped lines through it. Twinkling H2Os are overall more vibrant in color and shimmerz are more subtle in color. Even the dark colored shimmerz look much lighter on paper. So, which do I prefer? Both! I like them for different uses. I absolutely LOVE angel wings shimmerz to use as snow and that would be my preferred product for that. As I learned from a couple of my fellow high hopes divas, H2Os are awesome for deepening shading and used in combination with watercoloring or prismapencils and gamsol. I hope this info will be useful to you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave me a comment and I will do my best to answer it.

Thank you for visiting today!

Blessings,

Sunday stamping

Today was the perfect day here in Buffalo. The sun was brilliant and the air was crisp and cool (about 60 degrees). I enjoyed making leaf crafts with my girls after spending some time at the playground. Then I had a chance to stamp- great ending to the day!

First, today is the start to a new high hopes weekly challenge. For the challenge I chose to make a stamped candle since the theme was anything but a card. The holidays are approaching and I thought it would be a great chance to start on some holiday gifts. I stamped my image on white tissue paper and colored it with my copics. I noticed that the colors are seem to soften when adhered to the candle. So, don't be shy with your coloring. You can get the instructions on how to make the candles in this tutorial on SCS. Once my image was adhered I used stardust stickles on the present and frosted lace stickles on the fur of the dress. I first tried shimmerz but it just beaded on the candle.

Supplies:
stamps- high hopes snowlady surprise, DRS designs sentiment
accessories- candle, tissue paper, copics, stickles

Be sure to check out what the other divas created and get all the details if you would like to play along on the high hopes blog.

I also made 2 cards for the featured stamper challenge today.

I colored the image with copics and used angel wings shimmerz on the snow and a clear spica glitter pen on the candy. I stamped the bottom panel with my snowflake bg stamp. I accented the top circle with pearls which I colored with my red copic marker.

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs A277, L283, H187
ink- palette noir, real red
CS- white, red
accessories- angel wings shimmerz, clear spica glitter pen, copics, pearls, rect nesties, red grosgrain, circle punch, paper piercer

The second card uses h and m stamps.

I stamped my dog house image twice using one as a mask and then stamped my dog in the doghouse. I stamped the dog a second time so that I could pop up the head. I colored my image with copics and sponged in the sky and grass. The second head was cut out and popped up. Crystal effects is on the nose. I pierced the top corner of the card and added eyelets to the bottom and twill across the middle.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps
ink- cocoa, memento black
CS- cocoa, apricot prints pack, DCWV dp, soft sky textured
accessories- crystal effects, copics, twill, eyelets, paper piercer

Thanks for stopping by today!

Playing with Plaid

Before I get to my card for today there are a couple of things I would like to share with you. First, today starts another high hopes hop blog candy give away. How do you win? Just visit the divas blogs and find out who is offering the rubber and follow her directions. The links to all the high hopes divas' blogs are on my side bar. Good luck and happy hopping!

Second, you may remember that I mentioned meeting Korin from sweet n sassy stamps the other day. I have known for awhile that I was going to be on her design team for sweet n sassy but had to keep it secret LOL. Well, now I am able to share this news with you all. I am super excited and even more so after having met her in person. This company is so special to me because it allows me to combine my love of stamping with my first love- Jesus. If you are not familiar with this company they carry some adorable images which are right up my alley as well as beautiful scripture sets. Be sure to check out their website HERE.

Now for my card today. I was not able to play along with the color challenge on Tuesday so I thought I could combine it with today's ways to use it challenge today which was to use plaid. I first stamped my image, colored it with copics and added pink shimmerz and rhinestones to the cupcakes. I accented my corners by paper piercing around them. I tied a double ribbon around my card to finish it off. The cupcake oval is popped up on dimensionals.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps sweetly stamped
ink- memento black
CS- pink pirouette, black, white, ctmh dp
accessories- copics, rhinestones, pink shimmerz, shimmer brads, oval nesties, paper piercer, white gel pen, swiss dots cb folder

Have a terrific day!

Sketch stitch challenge

It has been a week since I have been able to participate in any challenges or to stamp and I was starting to go through withdrawl LOL. I did manage to color 2 images while I was away but I had hoped to get to more colored-oh well. Anyway, I was hoping that I could incorporate one of them into today's sketch challenge. I was able to but it was tough to get it the correct size and next time around I would use a smaller image. I also cut my layers and base the wrong size so my card is a bit larger than the standard 1/4 sheet size.

I colored my image with copics and prismamarkers and added stickles to the ice cream and crystal effects to the dog's nose. I stitched my orange dp layer to my card base for the high hopes challenge this week which was to use stitching on your card. My layout is the SCS sketch challenge of the week. I pierced the corners of the red layer for some extra dimension.

A closer look

Supplies:
stamp- high hopes ice cream for two
ink- palette noir
CS- bashful blue texture, real red, summer picnic dp
accessories- paper piercer, diamond stickles, copics (E00 E33, E37, E47, E21), prismamarkers (slate blue, light cerulean blue, orange. crimson red, tuscan red), crystal effects, stitched ribbon, sewing machine

Thanks so much for stopping by. God Bless!

DRS challenge #6

Hello all! I have been absent for a few days days as I was visiting my BFF last week. We had a great trip and the weather was absolutely fabulous- we were so blessed! I even had the opportunity to spend the evening one night with Korin Sutherland- the owner of Sweet N Sassy Stamps. It was awesome being able to meet her and she is the sweetest woman truly and we hit it off very well. Some of the ladies in her church thought we had known each for a long time when in fact it was our first time meeting. It is so cool when that happens! Anyway, my projects today fit right in with my autumn weekend. I have 3 to show you today.

The challenge posted yesterday on the DRS designs website is to use a sentiment as your focal point.

These 2 cards are very similar. I just changed the card base color, ribbon and sentiment. I stamped my white layer with the 2 leaf stamps in versamark ink covering the whole sheet. I then did a little "magic" using the poppin pastels technique. With this technique all you do is stamp with the versamark ink and then add color to the clear ink with chalks and a sponge dauber. It is really simple and fun to do with great results. I then stamped my sentiment on vellum with brilliance ink and attached over the leaf stamped paper with brads so you could still see the paper under the vellum.

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs G1122, C691, D701
ink- brilliance pearlescent chocolate
accessories- SU stampin pastels, brads, organdy ribbon

The last project is a candle. I stamped the images on tissue paper and adhered to the candle with my heat gun and waxed paper.

Be sure to check out what the other DT members have come up and find out the deets if you want to play along HERE.

There is also another High Hopes Hop for you!! Just take a quick trip to each of the Divas blogs (the links are in my sidebar) and see which one has some yummy rubber blog candy goodness for you! Then do what she asks you to do, in order to be in the drawing to win it!!!

Wanna hear something else??? It's super exciting, I tell ya!!! THIRTY-SEVEN new images and sentiments were added to the High Hopes website and are available to order!! There are more dragons, lots of birdies, some owls, some wonderful scenery and some valentines!!! Be sure to head on over and take a look. Just put HOTP (for Hot Off the Press) in the search bar and the newest images are on pages 7-10!!

Now get hoppin' and have a great day!!!

High Hopes Challenge #2

Remember to post a comment on THIS post if you have not already for your chance to win a stamp set from H&M Stamps. There are only 2 more days to enter and don't forget to check out the other DT members blogs because they have candy posted too.

This is my first high hopes challenge that I participated in as a diva. I was so excited and intimidated at the same time because the divas are just all so talented and I was afraid that my work would pale in comparison. Anyway, the challenge was to use brown, blue and green. You check out the details and the other divas samples HERE.

I colored my image which was stamped on watercolor paper with an aquapainter and inkpads, markers, shimmerz and twinkling H2Os. This was my first time using H2Os and I love them. They have a little bit sparkle and are so vibrant. I accented the flower on her hat with a rhinestone. The layout I used was the sketch challenge from world card making day on SCS. Here is a closer look for you:

Supplies:
stamps- High Hopes Jolie's little friend
CS- PTI spring moss, choc chop, bashful blue textured, watercolor
ink- palette noir, choc chip
accessories/tools- SU markers and inkpads, twinkling H2Os (majestic blue, chestnut brown, cedar wood, spiced pumpkin), pink shimmerz, brown brads, paper piercer, choc chip grosgrain ribbon

Last hanna sneak peek for you

Good Friday morning to you all! First order of business today is BLOG CANDY! If you have not signed up for my blog candy please be sure to comment on THIS post for your chance to win a free H&M Stamps clear set. To increase your chances of winning, be sure to visit the other DT members blogs in the blog hop. The links are listed in the post.

Before I get to the card I made, I have some news. I am soooo excited that Christine Armstrong has asked me to join the high hopes divas as a DT member. How fabulous is that? I love high hopes adorable images and it is an absolutely wonderful company. So, if you like blog candy you will want to regularly visit the divas blogs because there are many blog candy give aways scheduled. Anna has blog candy up now and you can visit her blog HERE for the deets. I have to add the links to my sidebar but just have not had the chance yet.

My card today uses the vintage toys set which was released from hanna stamps today.

I stamped my teddy on watercolor paper and used inkpads, my marker and an aquapainter to color it. I then cut him out after he was colored. I stamped my verse on shimmery white paper and sponged it with pink while it was still in my nestability die. I paper pierced the scallops. I used my new argyle cb folder (also available at hanna stamps) on the bg layer because it kinda looks like a quilt and because it has "stitching" in it which coordinates with the teddy and so of course I stitched the bg to my brown layer. I have to admit that I am not the best sewer as I can't seem to get my stitched lines straight- guess I need to keep practising. Anyway I tied my ribbon around my cardstock into a bow and then adhered my circle to it and then the teddy which is on pop dots. This was attached to my blush card base and I finished off with the buttons which coordinate with the teddie's buttons. I also used buttons because it is one of the challenges from the release party. You can play along too and have more chances to win prizes if you complete it. This is also for our weekly challenge which is to use pink- here is the link to that challenge. The October challenge also involves using this vintage toys set and you can check that out HERE.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps vintage toys, SU God's Blessings
CS- cocoa, shimmer white, sweet blush (PTI)
ink- cocoa, pink, palette noir
accessories- SU markers, organdy ribbon, buttons, argyle cb folder, aquapainter, circle nestabilities, paper piercer, sewing machine

Have a fabulous day and don't forget to enter the blog candy drawings!

H&M blog hop with CANDY!!!

I hope you all had fun with the hanna stamps blog hop. As a matter of fact, I think it is so much fun that how about we do again! From today until October 7th H&M Stamps is holding their first blog hop.

H&M Stamps really has some wonderfully creative ideas from the DT Members. Our challenge was to create a fall/Halloween 3D project. Here's who will be joining in on the fun of this month's blog hop:

1. Tracy Dorton
2. Julia Aston
3. Shannon Erskine
4. Neva McMullen
5. Sarah Green
6. Carolina Buchting
7. Debbie Corbari
8. Nancy Levine
9. Me- Janette Olen
10. Heather Rolin

My projects are not specifically fall related however, I think that they are wonderful gift ideas for the fall and winter months since it is getting colder outside. With the weather getting colder, how about some yummy treats to warm you up? My first project I seriously love how it came out- it is a mug to hold a packet of warm beverage be it tea, cocoa, soup or in my example coffee. I love this newly released set from H&M Stamps and it is great for coffee lovers but also can easily be used for tea or cocoa especially this first project. Take a peek:

I used this template and adapted it a bit for my own needs. I did not use adhesive to keep it closed because I stitched the 3 sides of it. I used my heart cb folder for the base because I thought it coordinated perfect with the sweet cup image. I used my fiskars heart border punch along the bottom, my corner rounder punch on the top and my corner scallop punch on the image. I accented with pearls, a spica glitter pen on the heart on the mug and ribbon of course. I decorated behind the packet with the coffee bean stamp from the set. The sentiment totally fits for items other than coffee like cocoa or soup. I think I am going to make these for Christmas gifts for the bus drivers etc. Inside this example is a packet of international foods vanilla latte- yum!

Supplies:
stamps- H&M STamps coffe's a brewin
CS- PTI sweet blush, choc chip, white
ink- choc chip
accessories- spica glitter pen, heart cb folder, grosgrain ribbon, copics, fiskars border punch, marvy corner scallop punch, corner rounder punch, pearls

Here is my second project:

I bought a mug from Walmart and filled it with a packet of french vanilla coffee. I decorated the tissue paper with the coffee beans stamp. I stamped the coffee cups image and then stamped my sentiment beneath it. It was colored with copics and then adhered to a scalloped rectangle and used my punch to make 2 holes in the top. I tied a ribbon around the mug and through the punched holes into a bow and voila! Now you have a very easy thoughtful gift for someone special.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps Coffe's a-Brewin
CS- choc chip, white
ink- choc chip, cocoa
accessories- mug, tissue paper, grosgrain ribbon, nestabilities

Hanna sneak peek day 3 and last day to enter for blog candy

Today is the last day to leave a comment on my blog posts for the hanna stamps blog candy give away. Today I am featuring the vintage toys set.

I colored the plane with copics, an aquapainter and a reinker. I then pierced a row along the top and the bottom. The layout is today's sketch challenge on SCS and the dp is from Crate. I also used the hanna stamps challenge today which was to use embossing on your card. My embossing is on the river rock layer which I used the spots and dots cb folder on. I thought it coordinated so well with the dp.

Supplies:
stamps- vintage toys from hanna stamps, sentiment- CC Designs
CS- blue bayou, river rock, vanilla, Crate dp
ink- bayou, palette noir
accessories- silver brads, stitched ribbon, aquapainter, reinker, copics, paper piercer

Hope you like it. Don't forget to leave a comment on my blog and on all the other DT members blogs as well (the links are on my side bar).
