Hanna Sneak peek day 2 and blog candy

Hi everyone! There is a new hanna in town and she is officially my new favorite set. i just love this new ski bunny set and there are some great accessory stamps included in it. My first card shows some of the accessories in the set. Take a peek:

I colored in hanna with my aquapainter and reinkers as well as copics. I accented her goggles, belt and zipper with a stardust gel pen. The fur trim on her coat has liquid applique as does the gloves. The bottom section was batik'd using, embossing powder, a mister with reinker and water and an iron. You can see the instructions here. I stamped and colored the mittens, cut them out, accented with glitter pen and applique and used pop dots to attach.

Here is a closer view for you:

ink- guava, sky, memento black
accessories- clear ep, iron, mister w/reinker, nestabilities, white gel pen, clear spica glitter pen, stardust gel pen, ribbons, liquid applique, aquapainter, copics

My second card also uses the ski bunny and is for today's hanna challenge which is to use 2 or more embellishments. As you will see, I think I got that one covered LOL. If you would like to play along and have more chances to win a prize check out the hanna stamps forum for the deets. I really like how this next card came out and hope you do too.

I colored hanna again with reinkers and copics. I then used angel wings shimmerz all over her ski suit and on the snowflake cb bg layer. I used stickles on the trim of her hood. The goggles and ski poles were colored with a creative memories silver metallic pen.

In addition to the blog candy there are going to be daily challenges posted in the hanna stamps forum on SCS so you can increase your chances of winning a prize by participating in them. Today's challenge is an inspiration challenge hosted by the wonderful generous owner of Hanna Stamps- the one and only Kristi Ferro. You are to make a card inspired by a room in your home. For my card I was inspired by the comforter on my bed. It is all flowery and foo foo with colors of mauve, sage and soft sky. This is a picture of my bedroom:

So I decided to pick out the soft sky and run with that and the stripes. I also needed a card for my nephew's baptism so can you imagine my pure excitement when I found out one of the sets being released this month was perfect for it? Here is my card:

This card uses one of the 4 new stamps set being released by Hanna Stamps on Friday October 3rd called For the Soul. All the sets are awesome and I even have a favorite new hanna now. Anyway, I stamped my bg stamping one of the cross images from the set repeatedly on white paper and embossing it with clear embossing powder. I then took a mist water bottle filled with soft sky reinker and water and sprayed lightly over it (this was Lynn's technique challenge today on SCS). I then punched my corners with my ticket corner punch and tied my gorgeous new ribbon from Martha Stewart around it before adhering to my card. I stamped the scroll cross image in sky, die cut using my oval nesties and sponged around the image while still in the die. The oval was attached to my matted squares and adhered to my card using pop dots. I accented the cross with a spica clear glitter pen and a rhinestone and the corners were all accented with pearls. The finished size is 4 1/4 inch square. I hope you (and my brother's family like it).

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps For the Soul
CS- soft sky, white
ink- soft sky, versamark
accessories/tools- ticket corner punch, oval nesties, clear ep, sky reinker, spica glitter pen, rhinestone, pearls, Martha Stewart satin ribbon

Also, if you have another minute, stop by the DRS Designs blog today to see the bi-weekly challenge which is posted today. It was anything but a card so you won't want to miss what the DT members have created to inspire you.

Limited supplies challenge

First off today, if you did not sign up to win my blog candy yet you have today and tomorrow left to comment on THIS post for a chance to win this week's candy.

Today's challenge on SCS required you to use a "Christmas animal/critter" on your card and the only embellishment you could use was ribbon. Here is what I came up with:

I used liquid applique on his beard and stickles for the snow. I colored Riley with my prismapencils and gamsol rather than copics this time. I used my corner rounder punch to create the scallops on the bottom.

Supplies:
stamps- santa riley, everyday sentiments both from hanna stamps
ink- palette noir, real red
CS- olive, red, white, SU summer picnic dp
accessories- liquid applique, stickles, nesties, paper piercer, corner rounder punch, cb snowflake folder, ribbon

Here is another one:

This is percy from h and m stamps which was just released on Sept 1st- isn't he cute? This is actually beachtime percy but I omitted his shovel and pail and replaced them with mittens and added a hat. I used shimmerz angel wings paint on his body and SU markers on the mittens and hat which I cut out and attached to my image. I made a slit on both sides of Percy and slid a ribbon through to make his scarf.

Supplies:
stamps- Percy from H&M Stamps, bundle up from SU, SU twinkle wheel, drs designs sentiment
ink- eggplant, artichoke, memento tuxedo black
CS- eggplant, artichoke, white
accessories- shimmerz angel wings paint, oval nesties, white gel pen, SU oval puches, SU corner rounder punch, sledding cb folder, eggplant grosgrain, artichoke ribbon

Have a terrific day!

Soft, shimmery, blingy, Christmas sketch

First, don't forget to comment on THIS post for a chance to win my blog candy if you did not already.

Today I made a Christmas card for me. Well, not for me per se but because I wanted to meaning it was not design team work or publication submissions. I made it as blingy and glittery as I wanted and I even used retired colors LOL. Take a peek:

Have to type quickly because my computer has to go to the apple store for service and I am so hoping they don't have to keep it. I ran my first layer through my cb, used my corner rounder punch on the bottom and sponged around the edges. The next 2 layers, I used 2 stamps from my set and stamped with sky ink on sky paper, accented with my glitter pen and sponged the edges. The tree is stamped twice and is up on pop dots and I used my SU glue pen and added glitter. The corners were punched with my scallop punch and rhinestones were added. Before adhering this panel to the card I tied my ribbons around it. I punched 2 snowflakes using my new punches and painted them with angel wings shimmerz and added rhinestones to the center. I stamped my sentiment and framed it with my hardware. I hope you like it, because I really do LOL.

Supplies:
stamps- SU season of joy, DRS designs sentiment
CS- soft sky, white
ink- soft sky
accessories/tools- martha stewart snowflake punches, angel wings shimmerz, rhinestones, corner rounder punch, metallic edge ribbon, organdy ribbon, silver hodgepodge, spica glitter pen, marvy scallop corner punch

Well, have a great day and as always thanks for stopping by,

Color challenge day with H&M Stamps

Before I get on with today's post I just wanted to remind you to comment on this post for the chance to win my blog candy if you have not done so already.

I needed to complete some design team work for H&M Stamps and today's color challenge fit in perfectly. The first card I made used paper piecing for it.

I have very little of the new in color papers and today's challenge called for using 2 of them- kiwi kiss and baja breeze. I am very blessed to have received a 1/2 sheet of them from wish RAK. Well, I went through some of my dp and was thankful that I found some in my new Basic Grey collection that matched the colors exactly so I was able to stretch what I have. Anyway, I stamped the adorable little elephant from one of H&M Stamps newly released sets on my patterned paper and cut it out. I used my circle nestabilities and adhered my elephant to the kiwi circle. I cut 2 triangles of patterned paper and stitched them onto my vanilla card base. My sentiment was punched out with my word window punch.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps generation of stitches, PTI limitless labels
ink- palette noir, blue bayou
CS/dp- kiwi kiss, very vanilla, Basic Grey offbeat collection
accessories- vanilla grosgrain, safety pin from TAC, olive brads, word window punch, circle nesties, paper piercer

This past weekend I bought 2 bushels of apples. Man is that A LOT of apples! I had no idea how many that really was. Being in NY we are pretty fortunate because they are plentiful this time of year here and each bushel was only $5. I still can't believe it. Anyway, I have been making apple everything this past weekend and included in the everything was apple butter. So this story was brought about because I thought I would give some apple butter to the new neighbors a few doors down when they move in. Along with the apple butter I will give them this card:

I stamped the house first and masked it to stamp my tree and then the stone path. I colored it with my prismapencils and gamsol and also used some chalks. I stamped my sentiment in the corner and double matted my image. I pierced the strip behind the image and added brads to the corners.

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps Old English and accessories
ink- palette noir, choc chip
CS- vanilla, choc chip, kiwi kiss, baja breeze
accessories- brads, paper piercer

I appreciate you stopping by today.

10,000 hits and some blog candy to celebrate!

Where to begin...I am so excited that 10,000 hits have been made on my blog in just a few short months. It amazes me that people are actually interested in what I am creating- still kinda blows my mind LOL. Thank you all for your supportive comments. Now for the good stuff... to celebrate going over the 10,000 mark I have some cool blog candy to offer you. Now this is not nearly the extent of what Cammie's blog has but I hope you will like it none the less. A couple months ago I received a duplicate Hanna Stamps Jump for Joy set and Kristi gave me permission to use it as blog candy. I originally thought I would be using it for something else but plans changed (for the better) and I thought this would be the perfect occasion to use it. So the blog candy is Hanna Stamps Jump for Joy clear stamp set and an unmounted witch Sophie/Riley. That image is soooo cute but my family and I don't do Halloween (ok, pick up your jaws now LOL) and I thought this adorable stamp would get some more love in a new home. Ok, so how do you win? Simple really...just leave me a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite hanna or riley stamp is. Easy right? I will keep this open through Saturday September 27 and pick the winner on Sunday and post it here on my blog. You see there just may be something else brewing for next week???

Oh yes, today is my day to post on the DRS blog so be sure to check it out if you have a minute. I highlighted a couple of the bg stamps.

Last but not least, I have been tagged! It is the first time. The incredibly talented Crissy Armstrong of High Hopes stamps (I can't believe she visits MY blog LOL!) tagged me so I am coming up with my post for that and will have that up in the next couple days depending on time factors. I am preparing some sneak peeks for hanna and some publication submissions so we'll see. Speaking of publications, I have had 2 more cards accepted so I was preparing to send the package out. I am pretty excited- these 2 will be featured in Papercrafts Stamp It on sale in late Feb. The only thing I am bummed about is that they are not for any of the companies I design for either. It is not for lack of trying as I submitted some from all 3 companies but they were not picked- :(

Ok, have a simply terrific day and good luck to everyone who enters my drawing.

Simply Elegant Sympathy

Well, today is the first day that I went to the "Y" and worked out in about a month. I really had to force myself to go. I cut my foot a few weeks ago and everytime I walked on it I split it open. Then I just got out of the routine and rather would stay home and stamp LOL. So, I did it and it was almost like the first day again. I took it fairly easy and only did 30 minutes at about 75% so I wouldn't die and get sore. So, the reason for my story is that I did not stamp today (YET) but I have some things that I made recently to share.

The two cards I have to share are pretty similar and are simple cards but I really do like them. I used my rectangle nestabilities to emboss- not cut a rectangle on my white cardstock and then stamped my image inside of it.

Supplies:
stamps- Everyday Blessings, Garden of Life- Papertrey Ink
ink- Brilliance pearlescent chocoate, aqua mist
Cardstock- white- PTI, chocolate- SU
accessories- choc satin ribbon, aqua mist ribbon, rhinestones

The second card I used my markers to color directly on my stamp before stamping. If you use 2 different shades of the same color you can shade directly on your stamp. I used pale plum and perfect plum in this example.

Supplies:
stamps- Gina K Designs Comfort and Peace, PTI sentiment
Cardstock- white- PTI
accessories- SU markers in mellow moss, pale plum, and perfect plum, mellow moss taffeta ribbon, PTI lavendar moon satin ribbon, spica glitter pen (to accent the flowers)

You will want to stay tuned as I can tell you that I am going to be having some blog candy soon. Also, next week hanna stamps! is having their one year anniversary so there will be special things going on with that including sneak peeks which will start next Monday. Have a wonderful day everybody!

Challenge me

Hi everyone, hope you are having a great day! I have a couple challenge cards to share with you. The first is from the color challenge yesterday on SCS. The colors were artichoke, riding hood red and basic grey. Here is my version:

I used the hanna stamps challenge sketch by Amanda this week for my layout. I stamped Riley, colored him with copics and cut using my nesties. I sponged around him while it was still in the die and I did the same for the sentiment. I used a very thin matting of white to make the colors pop a bit. I accented the sentiment with 3 tiny rhinestones and added some snowflake stickers in the corner with rhinestones. I finished off by adding one of my favorite products to the snow and ski poles- shimmerz of course!!

closer view

Supplies:
stamps- skiing riley and everyday sentiments from hanna stamps!
CS- ruby red (did not have riding hood red), basic grey, artichoke, white, SU dp
ink- grey, artichoke, ruby red, memento tuxedo black
accessories- nestabilities, taffeta ribbon, snowflake stickers, rhinestones, copics, angel wings shimmerz

My second card today uses the sketch challenge that was posted on SCS today.

I stamped this great newly released image from DRS designs with choc chip ink and colored it with prismapencils and gamsol. I stamped my blocks with my leaf stamp (also a DRS new release) in ruby red, pumpkin and olive on pumpkin CS and the long block with my leaf edger stamp in choc chip. I then sponged the edges with cocoa and stitched all of them to my choc chip layer. I matted that onto some bazzill bling and attached 3 brads in the corner before adhering to my chocolate base. I also tied my grosgrain ribbon around before adding to the base. Lastly I attached my main image.

a close up view:

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs K1052, A1074, P567
CS- pumpkin pie, bazzill bling yellow, choc chip, ivory
ink- ruby red, olive, choc chip, cocoa, pumpkin
accessories- choc grosgrain, choc brads, prismapencils, gamsol

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

Did someone say glitter?!

Ok, someone pinch me because the technique challenge today on Splitcoast was glitter surprise. Oh my word was I tickled pink LOL! I LOVE glitter and bling and sparkle so just imagine me jumping up and down in my living room when I read it. Truthfully though I rarely use glitter in it's "raw" form and I only have clear/white glitter. I tend to use stickles, glitter pens or glittery embossing powder but not today I used the real stuff. If you would like to play along (of course you would LOL) you can check out the details here on Splitcoast.

My first card is probably now in my top 10 favorite cards that I have made. It is so sparkly and pretty and this is one of those that truly is prettier IRL. The photo is not too bad but just can not quite capture the sparkle. Take a look and see what you think.

I started by "inking" my border stamp from verve with my essentials glue pad and stamping it twice- glueing in between. I then sprinkled my glitter over it and WOW what a gorgeous bg!! I set it aside to set. I then stamped my center image twice and cut out the diamond from one and popped it on top of the other image. All the white layers except the card base were matted with a 1/16" border of silver paper. I accented my sentiment with 4 rhinestones in the corners. I attached to my glitter bg with glue dots because I wanted a strong adhesive because of the glitter. The card was finished by tying my ribbon in a bow at the top. This card measures 4 5/8" square.

Supplies:
stamps- verve stamps artful elegance and warmest wishes
Cardstock- white from PTI and silver from SU
ink- silver metallic and essentials glue pad
accessories- bridal elegance ribbon, rhinestones, glitter

My second card my daughter thought was so cool LOL! See what you think:

I stamped my guitar image repeatedly on my white paper to create my bg. I sponged the edges and used a stardust sakura gel pen on the centers of the guitars. This was matted and attached to the black card base. I inked my chipboard "U" with my black pigment pad and embossed it with silver jewels ep. I also embossed "rock" on my black rectangle. I offset the black rect. and silver rectangle and adhered to my card. I finished by attaching my "U" with glue dots. This set is great if you make cards for teens at all. It is a newly released set from H&M Stamps and they are offering FREE shipping till the end of the month so check it out- no coupon code needed

Supplies:
stamps- H&M Stamps Rock On
cardstock- white, black and silver from SU
ink- brilliance graphite black
accessories- stardust gel pen, chipboard letter U, silver jewels ep, heat tool

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today- have a great day!

Color challenge 183

Hi there. I did get a chance to play along with the color challenge today. This was a tough one in my opinion. I am just not crazy about the green galore with the grey and riding hood red. I still do like my card though.

I stamped my new fabulous image from DRS designs with palette noir and colored it with my new wonder product- Shimmerz paint. I only used the paint to color my image and still got the wonderful shading with the exception of using a green prismamarker on the middle of the leaves. I also mixed my beeswax and rustic red paints to get the orange for the pumpkin. You can do quite a bit with them. To accent my image I paper pierced around it and added some pewter brads.

Here are some close up for you so you can see the shimmer and shading:

Supplies:
stamps- DRS designs (L791)
ink- palette noir, ruby red
CS- riding hood red, green galore, going grey, white
accessories- Shimmerz paint (angel wings, coffee, rustic red, beeswax, royal red), paper piercer, pewter brads

I hope you like my card today- have a wonderful day!!

Everything is better when it Shimmerz- a DRS blog day

And now to interrupt your regularly scheduled program! Today is my bi-weekly post on the DRS blog so I hope if you have a moment you will check it out. I featured my new favorite product, Shimmerz and even did a baby tutorial with some hope to be helpful tips on polished stone technique. I may be back later with a post for you if I get a chance to do the color challenge today. It is kind of a tough one for me though.

Anyway, my DRS blog post today

Thanks for visiting!

Embossed shimmer

This uses the try a new technique challenge- embossed shimmer. I have to totally admit that this was so hard for me and was quite time consuming. The biggest problem is that I did not have the correct supplies (Lumiere) so I had to improvise and that truthfully is why I did not get the correct results. I tried using shimmerz paint alone and that was way too thin and transparent. I tried acrylic paint and pearl ex but that kinda cracks and I must not have had the correct amount of pearl ex because it was lumpy LOL. The card below uses versamark and pearl ex on the acetate. The results are pretty but when putting it together the adhesive did not stick and was taking the shimmer off the acetate so I had no choice but to use brads- and you thought they were for decoration didn't ya LOL?

After creating the time consuming bg, I stamped the image and masked it so I could stamp the snowflakes to create a wintry scene. I colored Riley with copics and painted the snowman with shimmerz- my new favorite product. The edge of the oval was sponged and snowflakes have stickles. The layout uses Frances' awesome sketch which is the hanna stamps! challenge of the week. You can see the deets here if you would like to play along with us.

Supplies:
stamps- hanna stamps snowman riley, hero arts sentiment
CS- real red, bashful blue, white, acetate
ink- memento tuxedo black, bashful blue, white craft, versamark
accessories/tools- oval nesties, stardust stickles, angel wings shimmerz paint, red grosgrain, red brads, Pearl Ex (micro and macro pearl), cuttlebug swiss dots and divine swirls folders, white ep

I did make a second card using this technique and this one was done using the acrylic paint and pearl ex. The only color paint I had was orange so this is how I chose which image to use LOL. This adorable penguin is one of 40 newly stamps from H&M Stamps. It is called beach time Percy. There are 4 other Percy stamps I believe so if you are a penguin lover be sure to check them out. As an added bonus, there is free shipping this month too and no discount code is needed and there is also not a minimum purchase required!

The penguin image is stamped with brilliance graphite black. I want to just take a minute to talk about black inks because they are not all created equal! If I am stamping an image with a lot of black like penguins or silhouettes I will use brilliance black because it has awesome coverage for these images. You can use it with copics but it may need to be heat set to do it especially if you don't have alot of drying time. Palette noir- a good universal black. I use this for gamsol technique and much of my general stamping. It is pretty good with copics but will sometimes bleed a bit if coloring directly on it. Versafine black- I use this with detailed images like Thomas Kinkade or if I have tried palette first and am not getting a good image. Last but not least is my newest find- Memento tuxedo black. This is my now my favorite ink for copic use. I have not experienced bleeding with it and have not needed to heat set. I hope this little tangent of mine will prove to be helpful to you. Anyway, I painted my penguin with shimmerz. Also painted with shimmerz is the white layer. This was one of my attempts at doing the technique that failed but I did not want to throw it out and found that it worked well for the white layer especially since it was shimmery like the penguin. The ribbon tag was sponged with summer sun ink while still in the nestie die. The layout uses Julee Tillman's mojo Monday sketch.

supplies:
stamps- Percy Penguin from H&M Stamps, sentiment hanna stamps
CS- white, black, unknown sunshine dp, acetate
ink- brilliance graphite black
accessories/tools- orange acrylic paint, pearl ex, shimmerz paint in angel wings and beeswax, black brads, spellbinders ribbon tag trio, satin trimmed organdy, cb divine swirls folder

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hanna Stamps sneak peeks

Hello! Tonight is the night- the night of the hanna stamps release party that is! It is always a good time with prizes, challenges and good ole chatting. The party is from 9-11PM EST in the hanna stamps forum on SCS- hope you can stop by. There are 5 sets being released tonight and they are some of my favorite hanna stamps to date- I think you will love em. Have a look at a couple of the upcoming sets:

This is the new sophie and the awesome thing about this release is that the proceeds from the sale of this stamp are going to charity. You can read about the details here.

The layout of the card is Julee Tilman's mojo Monday sketch which is fabulous as usual! I added liquid pearls to the middle of the scallops and stickles to Sophie's tutu. The paper is a metallic dp that I had hoarded in my stash and Julia challenged us to use specialty paper today so I pulled it out. I have only had it for over a year LOL! I hope you like it. Oh yeah, I also used flowers on my card which is one of the challenges in the hanna forum for a PRIZE if you would like to play along. Click for the info.

here is a close up view for you:

Here is my second card which uses the new cat clear stamp set. The sentiment is from pink cat studio. I saw this dp at the store and knew it would be purrfect for this set LOL. I stamped the top using versamark ink with one of the paw stamps in the set. The top corners are punched with my Marvy corner scalop punch.

The third card uses the new jump for joy set. My layout is from the dirty dozen fan sketch for the month. This is also one of the challeges for a prize- to use fall colors on your card. You can play along to win one of the newly released sets and can see all the info here.

supplies:
hanna stamps- jump for joy, things hanna would say
CS- ctmh dp, more mustard
accessories- hodgepodge, twill, sponge, nesties, copics

See in the hanna forum tonight!!

Sketch challenge 192

Hi folks! I do have a couple cards to show you but I kinda have to make it sorta quick and I am seriously sleep deprived and had better get to bed. My last post showed you some ATCs- by the way did ya get a chance to check out all the other DT member's? Anyway, ahead of schedule I have turned one of them into a full card since it fit the sketch on SCS today perfectly.

I stamped my bg with my swirly snowflake stamp which I totally love from DRS designs (H519) in silver metallic ink and highlighted it with rhinestones in the center of the snowflakes, on the swirls and the corner of the card. I used my Fiskars snowflake border punch and tied some metallic silver ribbon in the center.

The next card uses one of the newly released stamp sets from H&M stamps generation of stitches. It is an adorable set and is now one of my favorite baby or little child sets. Make sure you check out their website because they just released 40 new sets on September 1st and there is free shipping this month too!!

Image was colored with prismacolor pencils and the elephant head is popped up on dimensionals.

supplies:
stamps- H&M stamps generation of stitches
ink- palette noir
CS- prints pack, bashful blue, brocade blue, white
accessories- prismacolor pencils, gamsol, ribbon, buttons, sewing machine

If you have time, stop by tomorrow for some overdue Hanna sneak peeks- I am running behind due to the start of school and hubby being on vacation! Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it!

An ATC challenge

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. Ours was nice- we had family over for a BBQ yesterday. Tomorrow is the first day of school for 2 of my girls. I can't say that I am completely looking forward to it though.

This week's challenge on the DRS blog was to make ATC cards. Then one of the upcoming challeges is to use them to make a full card. If you would like to play along with us you can check out all the details here. You can also see what other awesome creations the other DT members have come up with. For the challenge I chose to make 3 ATCs all of them using the same stamp. I even chose the same colors for 2 of them to show how you can get a completely different look. This is the stamp I used for my cards.

This first ATC I used silver jewels embossing powder which is glittery. I used rhinestone accents and my Marvy scallop corner punch. The silver is Stampin Up brushed silver paper.

The second ATC I used chose a non glitter silver embossing powder and silver pearl in the middle of the star. The silver paper is a textured silver metallic and finished off with some navy organdy ribbon. I also sponged around the image by leaving my rectangle in my nestability die and sponging navy ink.

The last ATC uses gold embossing powder and colors of hunter, burgundy and gold. I accented by framing my image with gold cord and brads and a gold pearl in the middle of the star.
